Book Synopsis
From the creators of the hit show Critical Role comes Vox Machina's origin story, now available in a softcover graphic novel omnibus collecting series I and II! What do a flirtatious bard, a clueless barbarian, a naïve druid, a pair of stealthy twins, a holy cleric, and a vengeful gunslinger all have in common? They're not sure either, but one day they'll become the heroes known as Vox Machina! Follow the main characters from the smash-hit series Critical Role as they team up for the first time, facing cults and curses in the revelation of their origins and the path that will lead them to glory...eventually. This omnibus collects series I and II of Vox Machina Origins, written by Matthew Colville, illustrated by Olivia Samson, colored by Chris Northrop and MSASSYK, and lettered by Ariana Maher, all in collaboration with the Critical Role cast!Review Quotes
"This is a solid fantasy story in a fleshed out world full of wonderful characters. There's great humor, witty dialogue, stabby rogues, a lady who can become a tiger, magic, wonder, drinking, and foul language! Yay! But seriously, this is a solid read, and a great way to introduce yourself to the strange band of misfits that is Vox Machina."--Jessica April, Chasing the Four Winds (Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins Volume I) "Vox Machina Origins is a triple-threat treat to fans new, old, and uninitiated. Awesome artwork = check. Superb storytelling = check. Humour, heart, and a heavy right hook of action = check, check, check."--Mike 'Everest' Evans, The Fantasy Hive (Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins Volume I)
"There doesn't feel like any disconnect between the campaign characters, the show characters and the graphic novel characters. It's obvious a lot of love and work went into this series."--Young Creative Press (Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins Volume II)
About the Author
Matthew Colville is the founder and Head of Writing and Design of MCDM Productions, which previously provided new mechanics, classes, monsters and minis for D&D 5e but is now working on their own RPG, called Draw Steel. He was also the Dungeon Master for a D&D webseries produced by MCDM called The Chain of Acheron. He's also known for his Running the Game videos, providing tips for GMs and his thoughts about TTRPG. Prior to creating MCDM, Matthew Colville had worked as a writer on various TTRPGs, such as Dune (2000), The Lord of the Rings (2005), Star Trek (2002) and Liber Bestarius: The Book of Beasts (2002). Olivia Samson is a Faroese freelance illustrator, comic-book artist, and character designer who previously worked for Dark Horse on the Critical Role comic Vox Machina Origins. She primarily has an interest in lore-heavy stories with otherworldly settings, like sci-fi or fantasy, whatever the medium. She also has an amateur interest in linguistics and programming.
