Book Synopsis
A courageous book about lions, wounds, and the healing that comes through roars.
Davida Angelica Roared tells the story of Angel, who is wounded by a hunter's arrow. Angel survives the wounding, forgetting it ever happened. As a lioness with her own cubs, Angel finally remembers the wounding. Surrounded by the wise lions under a full moon, Angel begins to roar. She is healed through her roars and renamed "Davida the Courageous" by the wise old lions in her pride.
Davida Angelica Roared is a book for children of all ages who have been wounded and wish for freedom and healing.
Review Quotes
This beautiful, thoughtful tale of pain and healing is enriched by artwork that swirls, dances, shines, and breathes with majesty and strength. Its gentle words and clear message will resonate deeply with both children and adults who have been wounded-and isn't that all of us?

Since ancient times, humans have pondered the mystery of healing without ever getting to the core of how it works. But Beth Richardson addresses a major feature of the healing mystery in her brilliant and engaging exploration of it in Davida Angelica Roared. The ability to roar reflects inner agency and strength, and this internal support is truly a critical factor in all healing journeys. This book inspires and challenges the reader to honor the head and heart as partners in the healing process.

I love this book! The storytelling is brave and wise. The story doesn't explain every detail but allows the paintings and the imagination to be to complete the story. And imagination is required to absorb Davida's tale, allowing us to understand how this story happens inside each one of us.

This beautifully illustrated book tells the story of a lioness who through finding her true voice, heals from trauma. As readers, young and old, enter this simple but powerful healing narrative, they will find themselves laughing, crying, and yes, roaring. Highly recommended for anyone who is recovering from trauma, and for all who journey with them as healers.

These brief pages hit a deep ontological chord in me that tearfully illuminated my own path to healing. The images, colors, and words all cocooned and called me to trustingly use the still-grieving voice formed by my wounds. An inspired affirmation for young and old alike.
