Penne Ziti is a short tube-shaped pasta cut with a smooth outer surface and is the sibling of the popular Penne Rigate. The term “penne pasta” can refer to either Penne Ziti or Penne Rigate. DeLallo Pasta begins with a high-quality blend of organic durum wheat. Wheat is chosen for its beautiful color, wonderful aroma and high protein content and is milled into coarse ground semolina flour and then carefully kneaded with cold, fresh, mineral-rich mountain spring water.. Pasta is extruded with bronze dies for a rough surface texture perfect for capturing sauces. True to tradition, we dry our pasta slowly at low temperatures to retain the pasta’s taste, texture and aroma. Penne Ziti is a versatile short cut ready to shine in many types of pasta dishes: from simple sauces of oil or butter and Parmesan cheese to creamy sauces to rich tomato sauces—and of course, the preparation that made it famous, the cheesy baked pasta dish, Baked Ziti.
