DeWalt - ToughSystem - Deep Tool Tray - 1 compartments - Polypropylene - Black

I like others are shocked that Dewalt would release a product as poorly designed as this. The clear intent of these inserts are to help "organize" the contents of the main boxes or drawers. As delivered they do nothing positive, they take up space for no benefit at all. Without included inserts they are useless, frankly. Dewalt the entire ToughSystem 2.0 is a real disappointment. I have the Tstak system as well and it is MUCH better overall than this system. I have 4 Toughsystem components and I'm planning on returning all of them in favor of the Tstack if I can find it, for several reasons: 1. No organizer panels/sections in drawers and boxes. 2. Cannot open the lid to tool boxes due to the units main handle being in the way and cannot be lowered all the way down. 3. Cheap handles on inserts. 4. Drawer units are smaller than other units. Why? Just generally unhappy with the platform. Not the quality of design I've come to expect from Dewalt.

I just bought these storage trays & I'm very disappointed in the fact that they show dividers coming with it but they are not actually included, nor does it say or imply that the dividers shown in the photos are not included or optional. This falls under false advertising, which is misleading & illegal as you are displaying something that is not actually included with the product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought 2 deep trays and 2 shallow trays for my tough system 2 boxes. If you just plan on stacking them in the box for separation they are great. The issue arises when you want to use the tabs and hang it from the top of the box. I wanted to hang them above the box with the power tools and store the batteries to keep them from getting knocked around in with the 20V/60V tools. The tabs will not stay extended in the outward position. Its extremely hard to get the tray to hang with the tabs when empty, with 8 batteries its almost impossible. I wish i had read the reviews before buying

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great concept but poor execution. I have a bunch of dewalt Tough System 2 cases, I bought 2 deep trays and 2 shallow. I am very disappointed in the design of the trays. If you just setting them in the box and stacking they are great, but if you’re using the tabs, it’s completely useless. The tabs do not stay locked in the outward position. When you try and put it in it’s a two person job to get the tabs in the correct position and in the box.

Takes 4 hands to set up, weight limit is low and tabs feel like they will break. Not a worry for me, though, because I'm not using this. If I still had the receipt, I would have returned this. Dewalt, you dropped the ball. Please bring the quality up to the level of the rest of the ToughSystem.

Where do I start? This could be great but it seems DEWALT fell short with this item. Here are some ways to improve this product for the consumer. #1 Tabs. The tabs on the side of the tray that hold the tray in place while inserted down into the ToughSystem toolboxes should be made stronger for obvious reasons. Considering the dimensions of the tray and ALL of the different things that could be stored in the tray, the tabs should be made to withstand the weight allowed, per dimensions, of any various combination of tools stored in the tray. DEWALT usually leaves little to the imagination when it comes to improvements because DEWALT seems to design tools that are really well thought out. This product, to me, fails to meet their own standards and falls short. #2 The tabs should be made to remain in the upright position while trying to store the tray down into the ToughSystem toolboxes. The trays currently aren't made in a way for the tabs to remain up. Pretty inconvenient. Almost laughable unless you paid money for this product. #3 The current design in the tray allows for additional accessories and features. Where are they? The tray is designed with hinges on the tray to affix a lid. It is also designed to accept compartment inserts for a more organized storage. DEWALT does not even offer the option for consumers to purchase a lid or compartment inserts separately. Why design a tray to accept additional accessories and not make the accessories available to purchase? The DWMT45403 has a tray with a lid and I tried to call DEWALT after exhausting all other efforts to find a replacement lid on the internet, but to no avail. DEWALT does not offer replacement parts for that model or any model affiliated with the trays. It is very frustrating to take my very valuable time to try and find a part that should be made, and then should be made available to consumers, but can't.. I don't HAVE to write this review. I don't HAVE to spend my valuable time to try and help DEWALT to help their consumers. I choose to. What do you choose to do DEWALT? This product could be great!

I have the same review as everyone else, the small wing tabs that are designed to flip out so that the tray will hang at the top of the toolbox are pretty useless. They simply will not say in the extended position as they swing free and drop. It takes some effort to get it in place and that is while it is empty. I can't imagine the difficulty while its full of tools. Also, it arrived somewhat twisted or warped which makes it setting in place even more precarious.

I have ordered 3 different deep trays and all of the tabs fail on what could be considered the bottom part of the tray if you are looking at the Dewalt logo inside the tray. Those tabs will not stay in the extended position to properly hang the tray at the top of the box. Additionaly, the black plastic and the tabs are made out of and the tab design are bound to fail. Very flimsy design considering how substantial the tool box itself is.

I'm not sure what magic (or glue) they used to keep the tabs up in the picture, but they just fall making this box useless (since I don't have 4 hands to hold them up as I insert it. Will go back.

i loved the tough system 2.0 have a lot of it but this tray design was terrible with the clips. trays constantly falling in the box dumbing everything in them and so hard to flip all the clips at once when they are worn out. co workers have the pack out by milwaukee and that just seems to keep excelling while they make fun of my toy trays they call them. not sure if they could hold toys.

Bought several of these to organize a TS 2.0 roller and a medium box. Love how they can be locked together, or left separate to organize various tools. I can organize similar tools in each tray and get to things without having to dig through a bottomless pit. Also like that the tabs that hang the trays are removable. This allows you put a stack of trays into a box without the extra tabs catching on the edges of the box. As for the strength of the tabs, they're strong enough to hold two large trays full of power tools and batteries. My only complaint is the lack of a ToughSystem ratchet set (with impact sockets, please)

Bought these to add layers to the depth of the Tough System 2.0 tool boxes. Quality is good. However unfortunately you can only add one layer of storage by hanging one of these trays at the top of the toolbox (which means you cannot use the included smaller tool tray that comes with the toolbox). If you want multiple layers you have to have one tray at the bottom of the toolbox (redundant) and build up layers by stacking. The issue with this is that you lose quite a lot of storage space around the sides so you have a large toolbox relative to the usable storage footprint. I don’t know why they couldn’t design a tray to sit mid way down and at the top (resting on existing internal ledges). Did not meet my needs.
