Q: Are the Shelves removable? and if not, what is the maximium height an opening can have?

Q: About half of the photos appear to have a cross piece that extends beneath the center shelves. Is the 7.25 of clearance with or without that cross piece?
A: Hello Esther! The 7.25" clearance measures from the floor to the bottom of the main base, NOT from the floor to the bottom of that cross-piece between the legs. Hope this helps!

Q: is the placement/height of the middle shelf adjustable?
A: Hello JAlexa, thank you for your question! The height of the center shelf is 7.25 inches for each shelf. The center shelf is fixed but the shelves in the cabinets are adjustable. Hope this information helps in making your decision!

Q: The description says solid wood, is this real wood? Also says up to an 85 inch tv, will it really hold that weight? Will it dip in the middle?
