Book Synopsis

"Fun to share with the kiddos, this would be marvelous to use during a toddler storytime. Highly Recommended for Toddlers-Pre" Stephanie Bange

A new book in Clavis' bestselling series "Zaza", which has been praised by Kirkus Review and School Library Journal!

Zaza is cooking in her little kitchen. She's making a meal for her animal friends. Then it's dinnertime for Zaza.

A delicious book about pretend cooking and dinnertime. For toddlers ages 24 months and up with a focus on the child's daily life.

At Clavis, our focus is on what's best for children. We believe that books play an important role in each new phase in life. Our toddler books are tailored for every stage from 0 to 3 and focus on the five most important themes in their life: daily life, skills, emotions, the world, and language development. The age range and theme of every book in our toddler series can be found on the back cover in the form of a colored train.

Review Quotes

PRAISE FOR FREEMAN'S ZAZA BOOKS:

"Make room, Doc McStuffins! .... offer[s] a mirror for many readers of color and a window for others while also emphasizing that imaginative play around STEM professions should be the purview of children from every background. ... A fun and visually inviting book that encourages children to consider one more when I grow up"" possibility." -- Kirkus Reviews

"Here's a small smattering of some of the true beauties I've run across this year. There are two Zaza books out this year and they're both great." -- Elizabeth Bird, Fuse Eight, SLJ.com

"A perfect story to read on a sick day, or any day!" -- Black Children's Books and Authors

About the Author

Mylo Freeman was born in The Hague, Holland from Dutch/American parents. She attended art school for about five years (painting) and after that she moved to New York. Lived and worked there for a couple of years and was part of a group exhibition at The Drawing Center Gallery in New York. But eventually homesickness brought her back to Amsterdam.
Around this time she started her musical career, which resulted in a CD. However, the stage did not prove to be artistically satisfying, so she returned to the visual Arts. This time Mylo started working for magazines and commercial advertising. After the birth of her son David (1994) she started to make drawings for children and he became the big inspiration for all the books to come. First published book was Potty! in 1997. It in turn inspired David to give up his diapers and use the potty! This book also won her the Kiekebookprize in 1998, a prize given out by Dutch national libraries for best toddler book of the year.
Now, Mylo has published over 60 books. When she was a kid there was nothing she enjoyed more than turning her room into a big playground for all her dolls and cuddly toys. So you can imagine that creating a character like Zaza came naturally. Now Zaza has become her favorite character and is loved by toddlers around the world!
At the moment Mylo lives in Amsterdam with her husband and three children.
