A: The filter for the Dirt Devil Scorpion+ Boost Bundle Corded Hand Vacuum is rinseable with water. You do not want to use soap/detergent. Once the filer is rinsed clean you will need to let filter air dry for at least 24 hours or until completely dry.

Q: I understand this vacuum is intended for stairs. The cord is only long enough to go up to 7 stairs. Most 2-story homes have minimum 12 stairs. Can I use an extension cord with the vacuum?

Always loved this brand but haven't purchased their products in awhile. What made me purchase the brand again was due to wasting so much money trying to find a product that wouldn't brake the bank, works and well just did what it says it does. Bought the scorpion handheld vacuum in 2022. Usually I hate the length on most vacuums but despite the other reviews posted here this one is a good length. Excellent suction.

It over heats very easily and it does not actually pick up dirt or pet hair. We tried it on our couch and stairs and it barely picked up any fur at all. Very sad , will be returning it.

I bought the vacuum for stairs and small places along the wall worked great for 4 months than all of a sudden it stopped working and wouldn't come on again I would not recommend this too anyone for long term.

This may be the worst vacuum I have ever had. We got this to vacume stairs and really liked that it had a power brush. Within a couple months the brush attachment would not stay straight, a bit annoying but nothing duck tape could not fix. Within a year the brush attachment stoped working. At first I thought the belt slipped but instead I found the motor broken.

I purchased my Dirt Devil at my local Target and only had it a couple months when the brush stopped rotating. Also, the brushes seem to be so far up in the attachment that they don't make contact with the carpet. I called Dirt Devil and they sent me a replacement. I have used the replacement 3 or 4 times and have come to the conclusion (sadly) that this vacum is a piece of junk. The replacement is so hot to the touch after about 10 minutes that I can't use it. My original Dirt Devil was the Model 8100 ....Made in USA.....I believe I purchased in the late 1980's....and yes, it still works......actually works 10 x better than the new one and its close to 40 years old. I chose to buy Dirt Devil when I decided to give my "8100" a break and upgrade.....HUGE mistake and a waste of money. I am going to "junk" the new one and go back to using my "8100". So, prospective buyers, please save your money. This vacum is a total disappointment.

I bought this specifically to vacuum upholstery prior to cleaning it. First problem was that the clear, removable front portion kept popping off the motor portion. It wasn't latching properly. I finally figured out that if you push it on hand enough (REALLY hard), it stayed on. The second problem was the cord; it was too short. I had chosen corded over cordless expecting that it would have better power, and the suction was ok. But the third problem was that when vacuuming, any pressure on the rotating brush caused it to stop rotating. How can you adequately vacuum without contacting the object being vacuumed? As I was trying to figure that off, the front part popped off again. That was it. It is being boxed back up to be returned. I'm buying the cordless Shark.

Like many others leaving reviews, I owned a previous version for years - the Dirty Devil Scorpion 08225, bought in 2011. Recently, the unit failed probably because of the switch. This appliance is one of only a few corded hand vacs, so I was happy to find an updated version. Some differences between this one and the old one: 1. Bad - No shoulder strap; but you can macgyver one. 2. Bad - shorter cord; but you can connect an extension. 3. Good - cooler operating temp, so you can run it for an extended period, and the switch might not fail prematurely. 4. Bad - black foam pre-filter is rinky dink. You'll need to purchase replacements to have available in case your other filters are drying. 5. Bad - dust cup isn't easily cleanable; electric wires run into it, so you can't use water to rinse it out. You can use an air hose or canned air. 6. Good - the on/off switch is easier to operate. 7. Good - the other features that made the original so useful remain on this remake - crevise tool, upholstery tool, and dusting brush. I'd recommend Dirt Devil update this model with a longer cord and cross-shoulder strap, and redesign the dirt cup to square off the narrow end and make it accessible, and preferably rinsable. If you've got pets, you'll want to rinse out the dirt cup to make sure any vermin don't stay in there.

I ordered this from Target online and the item arrived already used amd nagged up with another persons hair qll.wqdded up in the machine. I ended up returning with within an hour of receiving it. The return process was easy, but defeated the purpose of not driving to the store in the first place. I ended up ordering another one from the Dirt Devil site.
