Dolly Parton's Frozen Chicken & Dumplings Meal - 12oz

This is probably one of the worst frozen meals I’ve had. I was able to finish it, but I’m also not the type to waste food if I can avoid it. The chicken was fine though, spices aren’t bad but I think the “spices” are just using a heavy hand on the black pepper. But what ruined it was the dumplings…which are normally fluffy when you make them yourself and yes, manage your expectations because this is frozen and microwaved but… this was badly executed. This reminded me of a deconstructed chicken pot pie. Except the pie crust is floating around in… sauce? And its texture is a weird combination of both mushy undercooked dough texture while somehow also is tough and overcooked. Kind of how I’d imagine it would be like to chew partially dry Play doh. Not sure how they did that, but I hope they don’t do it again.

This was disgusting, Dolly Parton should be ashamed of herself…

The veggies are so fresh and good. I did not have an issue with the dumplings they were also good, I was just impressed how fresh the veggies were.

So good, very creamy. I have been trying microwaveable meals and these are so good

I love Dolly but all of these are absolutely terrible and gave my husband immediate bathroom issues.

The meal tasted great and I enjoyed it a lot. However, I was slightly disappointed that there wasn't a lot of vegetables. I had 3 carrot slices and a little bit of celery. I expected more, especially when it indicates it's with vegetables. Overall, still a good quick lunch/dinner option.

I was happy to see this on my store shelf in the frozen section as the reviews gave it a 4 1/2 star rating. Wow, what a disappointment this product turned out to be. I followed the instructions as written and waited for the chicken and dumplings to cool as instructed. The first bite was not very appetizing, the chicken was tough, the vegetables undercooked, dumplings pasty, the broth was runny and never thicken up in the slightest. Definity never buying this product again. Why Dolly would put her name on this frozen TV dinner I will never know. I could only eat a small portion before I just threw it in the trash. So disappointed.

I eat frozen meals every day for lunch, so my expectations were pretty low. With that being said, I will not be purchasing this again. The dumplings were hard to chew (without my teeth in), the chicken was somehow dry despite being in a gravy. The gravy itself was pretty good, the only reason I'm giving this 2 stars.

This has really good for a frozen meal. Decent amount of protein in it, too. Only 4 carrot slices in the whole thing, but they were thick. I’d definitely buy it again the next time it’s on sale.

I have seen some of the bad review and wonder if those people cooked it in the microwave. Chicken and dumplings were tender ( stir after 20 minutes). I also took off the film before cooking. Mine had plenty of vegetables and just enough gravy.

Pretty close to just being terrible! A few compressed chicken cubes, 4 slices of carrots, little tough doughy dumpling things, very little gravy, no celery pieces. If Dolly ate this, I feel that she would be ashamed.

Bleh! everything was very tough, not my favorite flavorings either. Oddly enough the celery is probably the best part. It’s very strong.

I agree with a lot of the reviews. This meal is OK but definitely not great. It’s bland and the dumplings are too firm and chewy. Gave it a try. Not gross at all but not something I’d buy again.

Tried for my first time. Lots of chicken and dumplings, 4 slices of carrot. 3 slices of celery. Even though I stirred, toward end of meal, it was just lots of gravy and dumpling.

Well seasoned and the chicken wasn’t rubbery! Honestly, I should know Dolly isn’t going to let me down.

Delicious as ever. The meals are a plus. Going to stock up next time!

I tried this afternoon reading a good review. I'm guessing some people have never had nice, plump and fluffy dumplings. Everything but the dumplings was really tasty.the dumplings were like flat chunks of dough.i can't believe Dolly tasted this herself. I don't think anyone can make dumplings work in a frozen meal.this one at least is tastier than another brand name I tried.

I love Dolly because she’s a woman of integrity. I knew she would not put her name on a product she isn’t proud to endorse, so I was hopeful this frozen meal would be halfway decent at the very least. When I had to pull back the cover to stir halfway through, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of chicken& the quality of the ingredients, and it smelled great. A few minutes later, my taste buds confirmed what my eyes and nose had already told me.
