Lynette Eason's newest book, Double Take is a page-turner, to say the least. It is the first book in her new series "Lake City Heroes" and let me tell you, if the books to follow are as good as this one (which there is no doubt in my mind that they will be) she will have another excellent series. The story is about Physician Assistant Lainie Jackson and Detective James Cross. These two are brought together when someone makes an attempt on Lainie's life. That's when the roller coaster ride began...up and down and back again, this story took me on a wild journey of nail-biting suspense that had me guessing right up until the very end. I absolutely loved the characters in this story. They both have flaws that make them more believable. I loved all the banter between Lainie & James, but I also loved the banter between James and his partner Cole Garrison. Ms. Eason has a talent for creating extremely believable characters that charm the readers. This is an awesome romantic suspense with a beautiful faith message threaded through the story. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romantic suspense. On a 5-Star scale - 5 Stars! I would like to thank Revell Books, for my copy of Double Take. I received my copy for free with no expectation of a positive or negative review. The opinions are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR. Part 255.

A great psychological thriller. Lainie is seeing a dead man, or is she? James is trying to protect her from whoever is after her and also figure out who is targeting her. This book is full of action and suspense from the very beginning. it pulls you in from the first page and doesn't let go. I think this is the best story yet from the author.

“He lowered his head and captured her lips, his head asking him what he thought he was doing, but his heart cheering him on.” This is the first book I’ve read by Lynette Eason and it will not be my last! I had so much fun reading and was kept up late into the night because I couldn’t put it down. I can now say that I am a suspenseful fiction fan! Strong Points of the Book: The suspense! I can honestly say that I didn’t know what was going to happen next. There were so many twists and turns. That being said, you get just enough answers as the story goes on that it doesn’t feel frustrating or like you’re reading in circles. I especially enjoyed the small snippets from the perpetrator’s point of view; they gave me goosebumps! The romance! The flirting and banter between Lainie and James brought a lot of levity to the story and was a nice break from the action. It was really sweet how James fell in love with Lainie because of her strength and resiliency through a harrowing time. I can’t wait to read the next book in the Lake City Heroes series! 5/5 stars !TW: mentions of past abuse, murder, violence, stalking.

Double Take by Lynette Eason is the first book in her Lake City Heroes series. Lainie Jackson’s ex tried to murder her! Now, someone is trying to finish the job. This book was so intense! I was so tempted to just flip to the end to find out how it ended, just so I could get some relief from the stress and suspense! But, I didn’t. This story will take you on a nail-biting roller coaster ride! I received this book from the author for my honest review.

This is book #1 in the new series, Lake City Heroes by Lynette Eason. Double Take is a fantastic read that grabbed my attention from the beginning! Lainie Jackson, physician’s assistant and Detective James Cross have their work cut out for them while trying to figure out who is targeting Lainie and trying to kill her. The action is fast-paced, roller coaster, scary and mind boggling! Double Take is much more than a clean romantic suspense. It’s a thriller and suspense woven together to bring the reader the best of both genres in one book. There’s just the right amount of clean romance and a thread of faith throughout the story to add depth and interest. The characters are so wonderful that the reader can relate to their trials and emotions. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys clean romantic suspense and thrillers. My thanks to the author/publisher for an ARC of this book. The opinions stated here are strictly mine.

Wow! This romantic suspense story has so many twists and turns, it almost makes one's head hurt. Just when you think you've got things figured out, you don't, or at least not quite in the way you thought, but then maybe you do, or not...and so it continues. Lynette Eason fans are going to be thrilled with this latest book, and it's kind of cool that she gave a shout out to fellow romantic suspense author Lynn H. Blackburn. Laine Jackson is questioning just how severe her PTSD has become when she begins to see someone who appears to be her dead ex-fiance lurking about. She knows it can't be him, after all she is the one who killed him! Detective James Cross, who also deals with PTSD following his honorable discharged from the military, had always thought of Laine as just one of his sister's friends, but she had changed in his absence. Now he feels drawn to her, and drawn to protect her, but from whom? Reader's will greatly enjoy finding out the answer to that question. I am very grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Double Take from Revell via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Lainie is still reliving the night, 18 months ago, that her fiancé, Adam, tried to murder her. Only through the hand of God, and a string of miracles He sent her way, did she survive. And Adam did not. But now she thinks she is seeing Adam including watching her from the top of a mountain that her car mysteriously slid off. Everywhere she goes, people are saying they have seen him, or she spots him herself. But when she tries to get closer, he disappears. Everyone is trying to convince Lainie that Adam is still alive, but she knows he cannot be. As time goes on, more attempts are made on her life. She knows they are made by the fake Adam. What she can't figure out is why someone is pretending to be Adam, and why they want to kill her. James, a childhood crush, is a policeman now. He has gotten pulled into the story, and is devoting himself to keeping Lainie safe. But the more they try to solve this case, the more evidence surfaces that Adam is still alive. The main characters believe in God, and share what that means to them. This is a thrilling mystery, with red herrings, and a surprising twist at the end. Fans of mysteries, and well-written stories, will enjoy this five-star book. Thank you, Revell Books, for providing Tickmenot with a book to review. Opinions are my own.

So if you want an exciting read, this is it! Lainie Jackson is just getting beyond a horrible relationship which she thought was over to his death, when it appears he is back and after her. This is definitely a book that you do not want to miss if you are a mystery and suspense reader. You will definitely not be disappointed in this one! James and Lainie work together to try to determine what is happening and to keep Lainie safe. Lots of drama in this book! I am exhausted simply from staying up late reading this. But so very worth it! Can't wait for book 2. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Many authors write suspense novels, and this book proves why Lynette Eason is considered one of the best in this genre! She stole my breath away with the intense danger, the non-stop questions, and the topics that are relevant in today's society. Who says PTSD is limited to soldiers or police officers? Can a civilian who's been subjected to death and trauma suffer PTSD also? Is Lainie Jackson suffering hallucinations about the man she was forced to kill in self-defense, or is there someone truly trying to kill her now? Eason gives us memorable characters and a well-crafted story filled with twists, turns, and non-stop drama. An intriguing relationship between Lainie and Detective James Cross, along with an inspiring faith thread, make this a perfect read for anyone who also enjoys Christian romance. I found it hard to put this captivating novel down and I can't wait to learn more about these Lake City Heroes. Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of Double Take today! I received a complimentary copy from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review.

I finished this book in one day, and have absolutely no regrets. Ah, there’s so much about it that’s so good! The suspense, the romance, the protective MMC and tenacious FMC—I’m tempted to go re-read it right now! Lainie captured my heart from the first page, her determination to not only survive, but thrive, in the face of so much adversity. Her struggles are ones that hit close to my heart, and her growth and development are inspiring and challenging to me. I can’t wait to see her in future books in the series! James is so protective, in a non-smothering way, and does such a good job of caring for Lainie I can’t help but swoon. He faces his problems head-on, and is willing to take his own advice when it comes to family issues. The way he builds up those around him, thanking them for what they do, takes him from book-boyfriend material to goals for real life. Double Take has become an instant favorite for me of Eason’s, and will definitely be one of those books I re-read multiple times. I received an ARC from the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

Omg! This was such an amazing edge of your seat suspense! I had a very hard time putting this book down and stayed up in the night to finish it! It was so suspenseful! Lainie Jackson has been trying to move on after an attempt on her life by her ex, after she atttempted to break up with him. She acted in self defense and managed to save her life by shooting him. But a year and a half later someone is trying to finish up the job, and it seems to be him again. But Lainie knows it’s not possible, because he’s dead, but then again, how can she keep on seeing him? If it’s not him, then who and why? Detective James Cross ends up in the hospital where Lainie, his sister’s bff works, after being shot while doing his duty. When he learns of Lainie’s grave predicament, he’s determined to help her out and protect her. But her aggressor seems to always anticipate her moves and his identity is confusing as well as mysterious. Will he be able to protect her, and should he fight the growing feelings this new version of Lainie is provoking him, no longer seeing her as almost younger sister anymore? As I said, this is an edge of your seat suspense. The book had me guessing the whole time about when the villain was going to show up again and trying to decipher if he was really Lainie’s ex and how could that be possible. The plot has unique twists and turns that kept me glued to the page, the action and suspense non stop. The characters felt so relatable. They were flawed, not perfect, they had their own issues and mistakes, yet they fought to do what they thought was best to the eyes of God. Lainie was admirable, she was strong and determined, yet still vulnerable and sensitive. She thought of others well being before hers. James was a wonderful hero: courageous and protective, yet he fought his own demons with PTSD -they both did- and tried to do what was right in spite of his father’s opposition of his career. I loved the way he tried to make amends and mend his relationship with his father. There were many things to learn about in this story, it’s not all about the suspense plot. There are family relations to fix, trust in God to be conquered, and love to lead to forgiveness and healing. A faith inspired and though provoking message throughout the story! And a sweet and clean romance that was swooning too! All in all, a captivating story that you won’t be able to put down! I highly recommend it! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. This is my honest and unbiased opinion!

How can I describe Lynette Eason’s latest book Double Take? Exciting? Yes. Suspenseful? Absolutely. Page-Turner? Definitely. An easy to figure out mystery? Not on your life!! When someone who is supposed to be dead keeps turning up in the heroine’s life, many questions beg to be answered. It was almost impossible to put this book down while reading because as one question was answered, another one surfaced. Eason is a master at continuing to write intriguing romantic suspense that keeps the reader engaged from beginning to end. I love that the main characters in this novel already knew each other before the story began. Their attraction to each other was easy to believe because they had a back story. The mystery part of the novel was thrilling, extremely puzzling, and often creepy. Eason brought the entire story to a satisfying conclusion which is what I look for in romantic suspense. The inclusion of a faith element added to my enjoyment of the story. Double Take is not to be missed by readers of clean romantic suspense. It will take you on a thrill ride that is heart -pounding to the very last chapter! I was given a copy of this book by the publisher. I was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Buckle in for a wild ride with Lynette Eason’s latest: Double Take! I was hooked from the very beginning; I read the entire book in a single sitting, and you will, too! Clear your schedule because this is one book you will not want to miss. Lainie is the kind of heroine you want on your side. She’s smart and friendly and having such a hard time that you can’t help but cheer for her from the first time you meet. Detective James Cross is the guy you want protecting you from danger. Experienced and smart but hurting, he’s willing to put everything on the line for her safety. That’s just part of what makes this book so great. These characters are realistic, likeable, and flawed. I want to know them and see them succeed – and that’s a problem, because Eason put these two in serious trouble. Trying to figure out where the danger is coming from will keep you turning pages until the very end. It’s rare that a book surprises me, but this one did, and it was fantastic! With fun romantic tension, realistic characters and family problems, authentic faith lessons, and surprises throughout the story – Double Take needs to be your next read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Eighteen months after she shot her ex in self defense, physician assistant Lainie Jackson is run off the road by a man who looks suspiciously similar to her dead ex fiancé. When the man continues appearing to her and leaving threatening notes, Lainie turns to her best friend’s brother, detective James Cross, for help. Despite battling his own demons after being recently discharged from the Army, James decides to do whatever it takes to protect Lainie and find out who exactly wants her dead.👥 Double Take is an exciting start to Lynette Eason’s newest romantic suspense series! This story starts with a bang (literally shots are fired on page one), and it is chock full of action and suspense. I loved how authentic and relatable Lainie and James were, and I thought their faith was woven into the story well. (I also loved that little Lynn Blackburn cameo.😉) With Cole and Kenzie being introduced in this book, I can’t wait to read their story in the next book that releases later this year!💙 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A big thank you to Lynette Eason and Revell Books for sending me a copy of this book!📘

The first book in a new series by one of my favorite authors is always exciting for me, and this new book by Lynette Eason exceeded all of my expectations. With a fast pace and heart-stopping action, this book held me captive from beginning to end. The story of Lainie Jackson and her doubts about whether she is hallucinating or not made me really want to know what was going on her life. Although she is certain that Adam died, why does she keep seeing him at various places around the hospital? And if Adam is not stalking her, then who is determined to harm her? Lainie enlists the help of an old friend James Cross, currently a police detective who is ready to do whatever he needs to do to keep Lainie safe. The pace of this book is like a bullet train rocketing out of the station and it never lets up. The plot is compellingly realistic and terrifying at times. I enjoyed getting to know the people in Lake City and how they were so willing to help and support each other. All of the characters were dynamic, original and believable. This is an intriguing and intense book, with a clever edginess that kept me glued to the pages. The multi-layered story that includes PTSD and some other well-researched topics was complex, crackling with tension and so well crafted tht I had no idea how long past my bedtime I was reading every night. The chemistry between the characters gave the book emotional depth and the suspense along with the red herrings made this book unforgettable and unputdownable.
