Recommened Romantic Suspense

4 out of 5 stars
Thumbs up graphic, would recommend
ChritianFictionandMore - 3 years ago
There is plenty of romantic tension between EMS helicopter pilot Penny Carlton and FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield, but it is kept at bay due to greater tension caused by an escaped serial killer with a vendetta for both of them. As usual, Lynette Eason has created a compelling romantic suspense story with strong-willed protagonists and antagonists, along with plenty of unexpected turns of events. It was a great read, and am grateful to have been gifted a copy by Eason's writing buddy Cara Putman without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own. (Note – I finished this book on May 13, 2022, but just realized that I'd never posted my review.)

Holy moly this book kept me on the edge of my seat. Eason did it again, and I couldn’t stop reading! Life Flight is the start of a brand new series, and I am anxiously waiting to see what the next book holds! This story takes suspense to an all new level, the details and the picture painted had me feel as if I was right there with the characters in their terror. This book follows Holt and Penny as they work to track down a horrible serial killer. It doesn’t help that they have attracted his notice, and when he decides Penny is next on his list, they are quickly running out of time. I had no way of predicting where this story would take me, and it took me by surprise more times than I can count. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romantic suspense and doesn’t have too weak of a stomach. There are some graphic scenarios that murder mystery fans will enjoy. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishers and was in no way forced to post a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Gripping Suspense

5 out of 5 stars

First, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Lynette Eason and her publisher for sending me a copy of "Life Flight" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me. “Life Flight” by Lynette Eason in the first book in her brand new Extreme Measures series. Penny Carlton is an emergency helicopter pilot who takes risks every day in her work, transporting patients for medical treatment in sometimes challenging conditions. FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield is chasing a serial killer…and Penny finds herself right in the middle of the manhunt. This is an action-packed, adventurous, romantic suspense read that will keep you reading well into the wee hours. Eason knows how to build a plot that is engaging. And she sprinkles thoughtful life lessons throughout her books. This one is no exception. This book is an exceptional suspense story that grabs the reader from the first page and holds them captive until the final page is turned.

Excellent Mystery

Lynette Eason is an auto-read author for me. I may not be able to get to her books as soon as they are published, but I read them as soon as I can. She is an author whose works I consistently enjoy. Life Flight is no exception. Today was not going to be the day they died-not if she had anything to say about it. (first line) From the first line of Life Flight, the reader is drawn immediately into the story. We are introduced to Penny and her team, getting to know them and how they react in extreme situations. Penny is level-headed, thoughtful, and a fighter. She is intelligent and resourceful. All of which are great skills for a pilot to have. When her panel fluttered, then went dark once more, she groaned and squinted through the glass. FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield met Penny two years ago when she saved his life. Since then they have been friends wondering about more. When they find themselves in another dangerous situation everything escalates. Not just in the field but with Holt's family as well. Once some secrets are revealed Penny and Holt struggle with trusting each other. Holt let him vent while he concentrated on how best to catch the man. Again. It hadn't been easy the first time. There are several subplots to the main plot, yet everything flows smoothly together. There are several mysteries, a serial killer, and no shortage of bad guys. Somehow Eason has managed a dark story without making it too heavy. There is an intense edge to it, but in a way where you need to know what happens next. This book kept me riveted and engaged. The mastermind behind everything is brilliant. Freakishly so. There is a level of plausibility there too. Sometimes in stories like this I think, "that couldn't possibly happen." Here, it is so well-written I can see it happening. I thoroughly enjoyed Life Flight and highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good suspense story. While some things are obvious (and are supposed to be), other things are harder to figure out and will keep you guessing to the very end. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. Thank you to Revell for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are always my own.

Life Flight

5 out of 5 stars
Deana - 3 years ago
With a jaw dropping beginning, this story takes off for an intense journey. I love reading about jobs that are dangerous. In this book we have a life flight pilot risking her life to make sure her patient arrives safely. The daring landing on a mountain top during a storm is nothing short of a miracle. I don’t know how Penny kept her composure but with her quick decisions, she averts a crash. With a dangerous criminal lose where Penny has landed, it will take all she has to survive. I like how she was more concerned for her patient and the EMS on board than her own safety. The author delivers a heart pounding story that has intrigue and danger. I like how the author not only gives readers a serial killer to keep up with, but a mystery that involves Holt. Let me just say Holt has my vote for best protector, fierce investigator and the definition of integrity and grace. The other mystery going on in the story involves something from his past. I couldn’t wait to see how the author would wrap up everything, I wasn’t sure I was happy that the story ended but so excited to know that we have another book in the series coming soon. I received a copy of this book from The Early Reader Program from Librarything. The review is my own opinion.

Tea For Two - Ugh!

5 out of 5 stars

What a chilling ride, literally!...as the opening scene finds us aboard an EMS chopper during a mountainous snowstorm with a serial killer on the loose! EMS helicopter pilot, Penny Carlton, is tough as nails, but her strength and skills are tested when she teams up with FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield to catch an abhorrent psychopath—before he gets to Penny! Penny and Holt are likable characters, albeit complex, with alot of baggage from their past. They work well together and hold one another in high regard, each for their respective careers and intelligence. Not to mention the chemistry that flows between them! Lynette Eason always delivers a fast-paced thriller with so many twists and turns it's almost impossible to figure out who-dun-it or why! The creep factor in this one is fairly high and by the time I finished my hands were shaking, heart was racing, and blood pressure had amped up a notch! Why do I find satisfaction in that?! lol Only a suspense lover would understand and Ms. Eason surely knows how to write them! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.

I love all of Lynette Eason’s books; and this one is probably my favorite! Life Flight kept me at the edge of my seat the entire time and had amazing plot-twists I didn’t see coming. I loved the depth of Penny and Holt’s characters and their lessons learned along the way. Can’t wait for the next book in the series!! *I received an advanced reader copy, but all opinions are my own.

A gripping thriller that you won’t want to put down. Penny, an EMS helicopter pilot, is accustomed to high stress. She flies into and through some crazy conditions but she somehow gets tangled up with a killer! Her friend, Holt, is FBI and becomes instrumental in the whole mess. I highly recommend this book.

Edge of Your Seat Suspense

5 out of 5 stars
BlessednBookish - 3 years ago
Life Flight is my first novel by Lynette Eason, and wow! I was blown away within the first few chapters. This story starts with a bang and never slows down until the end. The danger is hair-raising, the action heart-thumping, and the romance sigh-inducing. Penny and Holt’s story will keep you reading late into the night! I loved the balance of characters in this story, with Penny being a life flight helicopter pilot and Holt an FBI Special Agent. Holt was well trained and had many resources at his disposal, but I loved Penny’s level-headed approach to any dangerous situation. With a combination of quick wit and street smarts, it was entertaining to watch her work a problem. It was easy to admire her from the very beginning of the story and cheer her on as she encountered one obstacle after another. It also wasn’t hard to fall for Holt Satterfield! A handsome agent with an intelligent mind and a self-sacrificing sense of duty, he is quite the catch. But having feelings for Penny isn’t easy! She’s such a strong and independent woman, I loved watching Holt protect her without treating her as weak, ignorant, or ill-equipped. I thought they were a perfect match for each other and enjoyed watching their relationship grow through the story. Overall, I loved this fast-paced, action-packed book. Any fan of romantic suspense will enjoy this story. Happy Reading! I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations of a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Increasing twists and turns

5 out of 5 stars
Betti - 3 years ago
..Some days are just cry days… Perhaps we would all feel that way, if we were wearing the shoes, or flight boots, of Penny Carlton, a helicopter pilot. First you have to make an emergency landing in a raging storm, and that seems to be just the beginning of the non-stop stress she finds herself in. The author has done a fabulous job of grabbing your attention and keeping it with every breath you take trying to figure out how this can possibly end without more death. The plot or plots just keep getting more twisted as you make an effort to understand what can be believed and what one should turn tail and run from in order to survive. Do not under any circumstances expect to put this book aside until you are finished! An ARC of this first book in the Extreme Measures series was received through Baker Publishing Group and Revell. These impressions and comments are my own and were in no way solicited.

Great Series Start

Melmanro - 3 years ago
Life Flight is the first book in the Extreme Measures series by Lynette Eason. I was immediately taken in by the two main characters, EMS helicopter pilot Penny and FBI Special Agent Holton Satterfield. I found their interaction to be believable and interesting and liked that they had a developing relationship before the events of the story. From the very first chapter, Life Flight is a gripping story that includes life-threatening medical situations, a serial killer on the run, and a couple who must learn to trust each other with their secrets. It had my heart pounding with every page. Toward the end when I thought I had everything figured out, Eason threw in a little more excitement to wrap up the novel. If you enjoy heart-pounding, nonstop suspense with realistic characters this book is definitely for you. I was given an ARC of this book by the publisher. All opinions given are my own.

Fast-Paced Suspense!

4 out of 5 stars
Turquoise Avenue - 3 years ago
Having read many of Lynette Eason’s romantic suspense books in the past, I was eagerly anticipating Life Flight. Her books deliver dramatic, thriller-style events that have kept me engrossed and the suspense high. In Life Flight, she expounded on the gritty horrors of chasing a serial killer and kept me highly entertained, wanting to see the story through to the end! I was immediately captivated by the heart-pounding excitement of the first chapter and delighted to find the intensity maintained at a fast-pace throughout this story. Eason introduces a strong female lead who’s creative, intelligent and fiercely determined; a lead I enjoy in books. The villain was especially heinous and there were many twists, turns, and surprises throughout. The faith-based elements of the story were simply a part of the character’s lives, making this story appealing to secular readers as well as Christian readers. While I loved the intense drama, I had trouble connecting with and understanding the characters, their choices and their reactions to each other's personal struggles. Because the story starts off with high-stakes action, much of the characters’ backstory is revealed either slowly or late in the book (sometimes right after a high-intensity moment) which didn’t allow me time to get to know the characters intimately or understand their previously-formed bonds. As a result, many parts of the story felt forced, including the romance. Holt’s familial backstory took on a life of it’s own and at times, competed too much with the main plot. Overall, this was a thrilling, excellent-pace story that I loved solely for the intensity and suspense. The characters were interesting and I enjoyed the strong female lead. The romance portion was mediocre and the subplots could have been more low key, but I do believe that is all subject to personal preference and it’s my recommendation that you definitely give this book a try for yourself! *I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from the author and publisher. All thoughts below are my own

What a Flight!

4 out of 5 stars
Rebecca Maney - 3 years ago
3.5 stars "Today was not going to be the day they died - not if she had anything to say about it." First lines are often the best lines, and this book begins with a dead ringer. (pun intended; fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, someone does end up in the morgue after the first few chapters) Tremendously relieved to have saved the life of her patient, EMS helicopter pilot Penny Carlton never expected to encounter an escaped criminal in the process, much less cross paths with FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield. Theirs is a friendship that has skirted around the edges of "could-be-more", more times than she could count. Needless to say, it proved to be a short-lived reunion, for while their corpse isn't exactly talking, the man has managed to raise a surprising number of questions about who he really is. The case is far from over. Turn the page and . . . . let the chase begin. With a deranged killer on the loose, Penny is in for the fight, or flight, of her life. It's a good thing Holt is a praying man, for she's going to need all the help she can get, along with a miracle or two, or three. Romantic suspense fans will love this thrilling beginning to an obviously exciting new series.

An emergency landing turns into page-turning suspense

4 out of 5 stars
Meagan BloomingwBooks - 3 years ago
Life Flight Extreme Measures #1 By Lynette Eason Penny Carlton's emergency landing on a mountain during a storm puts her in the path of an escaped serial killer. When the FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield closes in on the killer Penny does what she has to to keep him from killing again. But as the media attention on Darius Rabor's "capture" and Penny's role in it grow - Penny attracts the attention of a stalker. Or has she? Holt Satterfield has always liked Penny and hopes for something more, someday. But when the media reveals information about Penny's past that he was unaware of he is more than a little annoyed that she didn't trust him enough to share these facts with him. But Holt has his own family secrets, secrets that he just can't reveal to Penny. Life Flight is the first book in the Extreme Measures series and it is non-stop excitement and suspense that will keep you turning the pages. As the evil that is Darius Rabor is revealed one can only shudder at the utter depths he went to. If you are looking for a gentle read this is not it but the descriptions are not overly graphic so as to disturb one's sleep. If you are a fan of Lynette Eason or Romantic Suspense you don't want to miss it! I was provided an advanced copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

It all starts with a life flight which takes the reader through an amazing reading journey. (See what I did there?) I so enjoyed this book! If you want a read that includes action, drama, suspense and humor this is it. Penny and Holt experience some serious, intense life experiences but I enjoyed that there were a few moments of laughter in the story too. The plot moves quickly and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I couldn't put the book down until I finished. Make sure to set aside time to read this from start to finish. You will not appreciate interruptions. I highly recommend this engaging, exciting and intense read. Lynette Eason has done it again and I cannot wait for the rest of the series.

Great Suspense

Life Flight by Lynette Eason is the first book in her Extreme Measures series. Penny Carlton is an Emergency Medical Service helicopter pilot. During a raging storm she is forced to make an emergency landing on a mountain and then go for help. All the while with a serial killer on the loose. Teaming up with FBI Agent Holt Satterfield may be her only means of survival when she becomes a target. This story was a thrill ride from start to finish; with a wonderful cast of characters. Penny was such a delight to get to know. She was soft and approachable but tough as nails when she had to be. Ms. Eason’s new series is sure to be a nail-biting success! I received this book from the publisher for my honest review.

Lynette Eason has outdone herself with this book. From the very first sentence to the last the book was incredible. I have read all of her books and this is by far my favorite. The characters are relatable and I could picture the scenes in my head. There were several points in the book that had my heart racing so fast. The combination of murder, mystery, Christian romance it incredible and how well the author blends them all together into one of her best books ever. I am already waiting and looking forward to the second book in this series.

This is an excellent start to Lynette's new series! I read this book in basically one setting because I could not put it down. It starts off with an exciting opening set of scenes and it ramps up from there. I also liked the side mystery Holt is dealing with in his family. That made for an added layer and the way it's resolved is completely awesome and a total surprise. Add in a great cast of additional characters and this makes a fantastic read. I can't wait to read the stories to come in this series. Really, really enjoyed this one! I received this book from the publisher and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

Here's my latest review y'all! Simply superb! This book was filled with heart-pounding rescues, best friends who have walked with each other through fire and flood, snatches of clean and realistic romance, humor and jaw-dropping plot twists. I loved the team's camaraderie, caring attitudes, and grit in the face of danger. Also, Holt and Penny were a great crime-stopping duo. I loved it a lot, and can't wait for the sequel! I received this book from the author as part of her launch team, and another copy from the publisher courtesy of Interviews and Reviews, which I will pass on to another reviewer to review as well. I was not required to give a positive review, and all thoughts and opinions above are my own. #lifeflight #cleansuspense #Christianthriller #mystery Lynette Eason

Intense and Intriguing Suspense Thriller

5 out of 5 stars
VickleaW - 3 years ago
This is a pulse-racing, breath-holding suspense thriller with two strong protagonists. Penny Carlton is a helicopter pilot and EMT who has a deep attraction to FBI agent Holt Satterfield. Their attraction to each other has to be put on hold when Holt has to capture an escaped serial killer who seems to be targeting him and Penny. There are some twists and some really intense moments in the plot, so it was an absorbing book to read. I really enjoyed that the characters were totally fleshed out, including their family connections and their past mistakes. With a theme of forgiveness and family and hope for the future, this first book in a new series holds the promise for many more hours of mesmerizing entertainment and more than a few pounds of my heart. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys to be engaged in a life or death struggle against a wily foe.
