great suspense

Lynette Eason never fails to hold me captive from page one til the end of the book. What an excellent and unpredictable plot! The suspense is truly her best yet in this series and I really had no clue as to the villain's identity until the end. The author is the queen of strategically planting the details and bringing it all together in one fell swoop at the end. I really liked Heather and Travis but their conversation and romance felt a bit stiff and stilted (but perhaps that was planned that way since they are both awkward in the romance department?). I totally sympathized with Heather's tough and painful background as well as Travis' innate need to protect and care for her. The faith thread and lessons on forgiveness and letting go of anger and bitterness were seamless and encouraging. I received the book from the publisher via NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are solely my own.

If you are not familiar with this author you are missing out on action, danger and inspiration. In this story she delivers characters that you care for and want to be there to help them. Heather is someone who is fierce, determined and always aware of her surroundings. Coming home after a tour overseas she still thinks about the young boy who could have killed her. I held my breath as that boy stood there with a bomb strapped to him. His bravery is not lost on Heather. Have you ever had a feeling that someone is watching you? Heather senses something is not quite right but withholds telling her friends. I think she thought she was protecting them but really she was placing them in danger. Travis is a good character who tries to help Heather but at times she pushes him away. When danger gets too close Travis knows he needs to find a safe place for Heather. I couldn’t wait to find out who was behind the staking. It is an action packed run for your life thriller. It kept me on the edge of my seat as I couldn’t read fast enough. Get ready for an adventure that rivals the best at suspense. I received a copy of this book from the Librarything Early Reviewer Program. The review is my own opinion.
Exciting Suspense!

Third in the Danger Never Sleeps series, Active Defense is true to its title, and is an exciting read the whole way through. The group of friends from previous books is included and needed for their various skill sets, but this novel definitely stands on its own. Dr. Heather Fontaine was used to danger, having served at a military field hospital in Afghanistan. But when danger follows her home, she knows it is time to flee. Travis Walker makes himself the lead in finding Heather and protecting her as the team tries to figure out who is after Heather and why. Their relationship develops slowly into more than friends. This book is action-packed and gripping in its page-turning appeal. Readers of suspense will definitely want to pick this one up! I received a copy of this book from the publisher, Revell, for review purposes. The thoughts expressed here are my own.

When I first picked this book to read, I didn't realize it was book 3 in a series. My first thought, oh great. Immediately I had a preconceived notion that I would be lost. Usually books in the middle of a series pulls details from the previous one to tie it together. Plus, the cover of the book had me questioning whether or not it was in this century or WWII location set. The story starts off in Afghanistan, in our current time line. I was happy, but then I discovered that I couldn't put the book down. It was good. It was a story that started off strong and then carried you along with the ups and down, daring you to stop. And stop I did and then I misplaced the book. Right at a good section. The story has pieces and layers as you are trying to tie one piece to another. It keeps you captivated. Yes, I found the book and was able to figure out (near the end) the who done it part. This is the first time for me to read Lynette Eason and I'm now looking forward to reading the first two books in this series. Actually, I'm equally curious about the fourth book, thanks to the sample chapters in the back of the book. Now I have to wait for it? ACK! I did receive this book from Revell Publishing, however my review and thoughts on the book are completely my own.
Exciting Read!

This was a solid suspense read from Lynette Eason. After meeting Heather and Travis in the earlier books in this series, getting their story was super fun. The mystery was very good and the excitement level of the book kept a great pace and was a page turner. Heather and Travis's growing relationship was easy and believable and didn't move too fast which I appreciated. I really liked the addition of Ryker, he was a fun character that I'd like to see more of. This was a quick, easy and an enjoyable read. Looking forward to book 4 in the series later this year. I received this book from the publisher and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

Quick pacing, intense action, Lynette Eason invites readers back to the danger in this newest release. One of my favorite things about series is returning to familiar faces. Unexpected twists and turns force the team to come together to protect one of their own. I think one of my favorite aspects of this story was the introduction of a minor character that the heroine could relate to on a personal level. It added depth to her story as well as to Travis-the hero-and made the plot that much richer. Active Defense delivers Ms. Eason's signature style that'll have romantic-suspense fans ready for more! **I received this book from the publisher. So Good!

Eason had me from the very first page. I didn’t want to stop reading, and had no clue what could possibly happen next. I had met Heather and Travis earlier in this series, but felt like I got to know them a lot better in this book. I could understand Heather’s need to be in control, and when someone put her friends in danger she did what she knows how to do: run and hide. Little does she know her friends know her, and aren’t going to let her fight alone. Travis has a special interest in her, and it doesn’t hurt that he knows how to protect someone without being seen. Will Travis find out who’s after Heather before it’s too late? I love reading a novel and having no clue who the villain could be. Eason had me guessing and took me by complete surprise. I can’t wait to see what she writes next! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense. I loved seeing the deep friendships the group shared, and that their love for each other overcame many obstacles. I received a copy of this book from Revell Publishing and was in no way forced to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Active Defense, by Lynette Eason, is the third in the Danger Never Sleeps series but, whilst I loved the previous two, it works as a standalone novel too. Our leading lady is a military doctor home after a traumatic incident. Quickly she realises she’s attracted a stalker and, to protect her friends, she disappears to a “safe” location. Our leading man and friend to Heather, Travis, uses his resources in private security as well as his friendships with law enforcement to find and protect Heather. Soon, the two find themselves fighting against more than a one man stalker and trying to ascertain what the motive behind it all is. As in every Lynette Eason, this is a fast-paced action-orientated story but I love the heart she built into Heather, she has created a woman who is easy to relate to and caring toward all those who the stumble across in their journey. Backed by Travis’ team, their investigation takes many unexpected and interesting turns before it’s satisfying ending! Whilst I pieced some of it together, as I love to do, I didn’t get all of it! I so enjoyed this adventure and highly recommend it! It’s a five out of five on the enJOYment scale!
Stalker

I have read many books by this author, and this one does not disappoint. It is the third book in the series with some recurring characters, but this can be read alone! I can’t imagine coming home from a war zone, and then having a stalker, now Heather doesn’t even feel safe in her own country, never mind her home. The character Heather is a strong woman who has pulled herself up from her bootstraps to become a surgeon, coming out of a rough background amid foster homes. You will feel yourself ducking as bullets fly, and evil is lurking, along with a bit of tender romance. This one will not disappoint, and I would love to go on with the lives of these characters. I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.
