A: It’s my first time I am buying this product, if it says it’s safe, it should be! Also, when you read product details you could assume that it works as fabric softener.

A: I use Lysol Laundry Sanitizer put directly in the washer with clothing. Then, I use Downy Rinse put in the designated softener compartment of the washing machine. This has worked well for me. I do not ever have any concerning smells that can be caused by mixing chemicals that should not be. That said, I would not and do not recommend adding them where both would be going in the same place at the same time. Ex. If there is not a designated softener compartment that is outside the washer drum area, I would not recommend using both products. Such as with top loaders have it located at the top of the agitator. If it is possible to manually add it at the end of the wash cycle, that could be a feasible workaround. I hope this is helpful!

A: Probably a bad idea. Lysol laundry sanitizer’s active ingredients are quaternary ammonium compounds, which would likely be rendered ineffective by the lower pH created by the citric acid in this product. Basically they cancel each out. FYI, the quat disinfectants in Lysol’s product aren’t super great for the environment and at high concentrations, they may pose some health risks (mostly skin and lung irritation, but in mice, high doses are associated with other health issues. But people aren’t mice, and the dose makes the poison, so it’s probably fine when used at directed), but still, if this citric acid rinse gets you the same results, it’s probably a better option.

A: Hi there Jess! Great question. When you purchase our Rinse Out Odor products with the flip-top cap, they will find a closed cap featuring a thumb notch for initial opening. Upon opening, a horseshoe-shaped pull tab will be visible; this serves as the peel-off safety seal that needs to be removed to access the product. Just to clarify, you shouldn't pour Downy into the bleach slot. Instead, if your washer doesn't have a fabric softener dispenser, you can either add it in the center post agitator for traditional top-loading machines or pour it directly into the drum during the rinse cycle with your laundry.
