Q: can these be use for adults ?

submitted by Helen - 5 years ago
  • A: Yes! It’s a great alternative if you want to use something more natural and free of unnecessary chemicals, fragrances, etc. I also use this to wash my cat when we wash her cat box(about once a month) since it’s more natural and fragrant free :)

submitted byHeather - 3 years ago
  • A: Yes, absolutely. This baby version is actually also used by hikers and campers when camping close to bear country (since it's non-toxic and biodegradable and is a lot less naturally scented compared to the other Dr. Bronne'rs soaps like the Tea Tree, Lavender, Almond, etc) - it's actually how we started using it when we bought it at REI. It's also can be used to wash dishes but I prefer the soapy suds version from Dr. Bronner's (however Target doesn't carry that one). I have sensitive skin and seems to do well with all Dr. Bronner's soaps.

submitted bySweet Tooth - 2 years ago
  • A: Yes. This just doesn't have any fragrance which could be irritating to sensitive skin.

submitted byella - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi Helen, yes this all-in-one soap can be used on children, adults, even pets!

Q: can this be used as shampoo as well?

submitted by newmom - 5 years ago
  • A: You can use it as a shampoo, but if you're not used to soap as shampoo I recommend following with a citric acid rinse (diluted apple cider vinegar is a good option) to smooth your hair follicle back down or your hair might feel a bit more tangled.

submitted bySarah - 3 years ago
  • A: I do use this as my primary shampoo as it's as close to pure as any product can be. Very mild, my hair feels clean without the added perfumes (which I'm allergic to). I use this as my one stop product in the bath. Every other hair wash I do use conditioner.

submitted byTP - 5 years ago
  • A: This is a very mild soap, but I would not use as shampoo because on the bottle it says to keep out of your eyes

submitted byLAR - 5 years ago

Q: How long does a bottle of this size typically last? Does a little go a long way?

submitted by mma - 5 years ago
  • A: As far as how much to use, I'd say it's about the same as any other liquid soap. So if you how long your old soap lasts, compare the size of containers to see how long this one will last. If cost is an issue, I suspect there are other brands of liquid castile soap, probably just as good, and Dr Bronner isn't a bargain brand. I know there are inexpensive castile bar soaps commonly available.

submitted byBond James Bond - 5 years ago
  • A: I highly recommend getting a foam pump dispenser bottle. It will go a very long way, 2 showers a day, it lasted me 5 months.

submitted byTargetlover - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi Mma, we've found that this castile soap will last several months, especially when you dilute the soap, or combine it with water.

Q: Can I use this as liquid hand soap replacement? And what is the best way to bottle it, diluted in water with a foaming dispenser or straight from the Dr. Bronners bottle to a smaller dispenser?

submitted by MJ - 10 months ago
  • A: Hi MJ! We do not recommend using a standard pump dispenser, sensor dispenser, or wall dispenser with our Pure-Castile Liquid Soaps as they can easily clog. Instead, we recommend keeping the soap in its original bottle and using just a drop or two for each handwashing. However, our Pure-Castile Liquid Soaps do work well in foaming dispensers! Foaming dispensers “thicken” the soap with water and air. If you decide to use a foaming dispenser, make sure to dilute the soap at a ratio of 1 part soap to 3 parts water. This dilution doesn’t create the issues with clogging that undiluted soap would. Ratio example: 8 oz. bottle = 2 oz. soap (¼ c.) soap and 6 oz. (¾ c.) water; 12 oz. bottle = 3 oz. soap and 9 oz. water. When using a foaming dispenser, we recommend diluting a portion that will be used up within 2 weeks to a month, since we do not add any harsh preservatives in our products that will allow them to last longer than 1 month after being diluted. Using distilled water will be more helpful since hard water can cause natural soap separation.

  • A: Hi MJ! The Dr. Bronner's 18-In-1 Hemp Baby Pure Castile Soap when diluted can be used for body, face, mopping-laundry-pets, and clean make-up brushes! Directions will be in bottle, hope this helps :)

Q: Is this product tear free?

submitted by Rae - 5 years ago
  • A: No, it's soap. Although it is mild, it is not tear free.

submitted byNatalie - 5 years ago
  • A: No. Its not tear free.

Q: Can you use this on dogs? My dog has super sensitive skin. Baby Johnson Johnson is the only product that doesn't effect my dog's skin. I would like a better soap. Does anyone have any experience using this on dogs?

submitted by Tim - 11 months ago
  • A: Great Question Tim! Dr. Bronner's is safe for dogs, however, you should use only a little bit of the soap at first to ensure your dog is not sensitive to it

Q: Is the palm oil in your products sustainably sourced, rainforest alliance approved?

submitted by Jojorodo - 1 year ago
  • A: We have gone to great lengths to ensure that our fair trade & organic palm oil is sustainably harvested in a way that does not damage the environment. All of our palm oil comes from small-holder farms in Ghana, where oil palms have been grown for centuries, and where no new deforestation is occurring. We are constantly striving to improve sustainability and we support growers with organic methods for improving palm fruit yields – thus getting more oil out of the same amount of land. In short, we believe that it is not simply what you grow, but how you grow it. You can read more about our palm oil project in Ghana on our All-One blog.

Q: What is the recommended dilution ratio of soap-to-water for this product in order to use it in my 8.5 ounce automatic foaming dispenser which would provide rich foam yet not stress the dispenser motor?

submitted by John - 2 years ago
  • A: Whatever your volume is, fill it with one part soap and three of those parts of water. You could use 1 cup soap to 3 cups water (makes 1 qt.), or 1/4 cup soap to 3/4 cup water (makes 1 cup). At this ratio, the soap is thin enough that it will not strain the motor.

Q: Is it ok to use on your private area ?

submitted by Paula Austin - 2 years ago
  • A: Our Castile Soap works as a great body wash, and some also use this soap to wash around their feminine or masculine areas. Please keep in mind that this soap was not specifically made for these delicate areas, however we get positive feedback that it works just fine. As we are all different and some may be more sensitive down there than others, we recommend that you do a spot test first. For sensitive skin and sensitive areas of the body, we suggest our Baby Unscented Castile Soap. The Peppermint soap may be a bit strong for the area, as it will really tingle from the Peppermint Oil. If you are still unsure, consult with your preferred medical professional to determine which product is right for you.

I love the product. The top on the bottle is very fragile, and broke into 3 pieces when dropped from a not so high drop in my bathtub. You would think a bottle this big would have a heavier duty cap. Great product. Just be careful.

I make a body wash using a quarter portion fractionated coconut oil, a quarter portion raw honey and a half portion Dr. Bonner's Baby Unscented Pure-Liquid Castile Soap. Then I add essential oils. It's a really nice combination. The suds are perfect and it both cleans and softens.

Dr. Bronner's Baby Unscented Castile Soap

I have been using Dr. Bronner's Castile soap for over 40 years. I have to buy the big jug as I use it for everything. I buy the baby unscented as I like to add my own essential oils depending on what I use the soap for. Between the quality of the product and the company's dedication to earth friendly practices, I'll be a lifelong user of their products.

This product is too think and watery. Would not purchase again. Not a great buy for the money. The size yes. Has a really strong chemical smell when mixed with other products. I didn’t use it more than once because I don’t like the way it smells and the consistency is too much like water.
