Q: How many ounces is this bottle ??? Why isn't it stated in the product details ?
A: Dr Bronners sells a variety of sizes, mostly in multiples of 2 ounces, from a few ounce travel size to gallons (hard to find these days.) The size is always posted on the product in the label (in the above ad, enlarge the photo and look above the "fair trade" logo.) The website should make clear which size product you are looking at (as this one does in the title) and the prices are pretty standard, with double the quantity usually being just less than double the price (excluding occasional sales by the merchant.) I like to buy one two ounce bottle to keep by the sink, and then buy the biggest size I can and just refill it as needed. The cap will become clogged with gooey "dry bronners", especially if you leave the top up, but this can be swiped out with your finger. Don't worry - its clean gunk!

Q: is there any shelf life/expiry for these soaps ?
A: Hey, Great question! The length of time varies, depending on the type of product, how it is used, and how it is stored. Expiration dates and shelf life will be listed on most products. Look for the "open jar" symbol. After opened, you should use a product as directed or within one year. Always throw the product away if it seems discolored, develops a strange odor, or the consistency changes. Q: Can I use this as a spider repellent?
A: Our Castile Soaps can also be helpful if you are interested in making your own outdoor insecticidal Spray. Items you will need are: A spray bottle 1 Tbsp. (15mL) Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap 1 quart (1 L) water Combine the soap and water in a spray bottle. Spray plants thoroughly. Be sure to spray stems, and under the leaves where bugs hide. Spray early in the morning or evening so that the heat of the day does not evaporate the spray immediately and is effective longer. You may need to spray plants daily for a while to thwart an intense infestation. Although we believe that a soap spray will not harm beneficial insects like bees and ladybugs, you can be sure not to bother any by giving the plant a quick shake before spraying. Rinse your produce after harvesting. You can even add a drop or two more Castile soap, which also makes a great produce wash. Happy plantings!

Q: Why is there a Bible study written on the bottle?
A: In the 1950s, Dr. Bronner lectured primarily in Pershing Square in Los Angeles, a hotbed of activism of all stripes. He saw the need for the world to unite before it destroyed itself, and to this end he exhorted all people to unite as one and to respect each other and the environment. He also encouraged all religions to recognize their universal similarities, inspired by the same divine source. Dr. Bronner saw planetariums as the “All-One!” temples of the future, where humans would see themselves within the celestial majesty of Creation and realize how vanishingly trivial their differences were here on Spaceship Earth. On the side, he gave away and sold his Peppermint Pure-Castile Soap and offered lectures about his mission statement to anyone that would listen to him. He soon realized that many people were taking the soap and leaving without listening to him speak. In response, Dr. Bronner began to print his philosophy in dense, tiny script on the label of each soap bottle. He also included scriptures and poetry. His unique style of expression was part prose, part poetry with no superfluous words. It is direct and strident, with copious repetitions of the phrase which summarizes his whole message: “All-One!” We invite you to visit the following link to the Lisa Bronner Blog where you can read more about the history of our label: https://www.lisabronner.com/how-the-label-was-born/

Q: Can this product be used for vaginal cleaning?
A: Our Castile Soap works as a great body wash, and some also use this soap to wash around their feminine or masculine areas. Please keep in mind that this soap was not specifically made for these delicate areas, however we get positive feedback that it works just fine. As we are all different and some may be more sensitive down there than others, we recommend that you do a spot test first. For sensitive skin and sensitive areas of the body, we suggest our Baby Unscented Castile Soap. The Peppermint soap may be a bit strong for the area, as it will really tingle from the Peppermint Oil. If you are still unsure, consult with your preferred medical professional to determine which product is right for you.

Q: Does this clear up acne? I have seen youtube videos and youtubers claiming it has clear their skin bbn on acne. Was this product tested for acne or no? I would like to know. Thank you!
A: The soaps do work well on the face. You might want to start with the milder soaps, since the stronger essential oils like peppermint and eucalyptus can be a bit drying. For sensitive skin, we recommend our Classic Baby Soap, as it does not contain any essential oils and is slightly more moisturizing than our other varieties. Our soaps do not clog pores. Instead, because of the pH level of the soaps, they open the pores to allow deep cleaning of the skin. Our soaps have been known to help reduce acne, eczema and psoriasis because of their ability to clean the skin without harsh chemicals. Tea Tree oil in particular has natural antibacterial qualities and is great for various skin ailments. Although our soaps have not been tested on acne prevention, they have been used for many years with great success to those with sensitive skin.

Q: I see it uses palm oil, is this from a sustainable source as it claims to be cruelty free but I dont see specifics on this.
A: We appreciate and share your concern about unsustainable palm oil! It is devastating to see the degree to which irresponsible palm harvesting is destroying natural habitats. Yes, our soaps do contain palm oil, but we want to let you know that we have gone to great lengths to ensure that our fair trade & organic palm oil is sustainably harvested in a way that does not damage the environment. All of our palm oil comes from small-holder farms in Ghana, where oil palms have been grown for centuries, and where no new deforestation is occurring. We are constantly striving to improve sustainability and we support growers with organic methods for improving palm fruit yields – thus getting more oil out of the same amount of land. In short, we believe that it is not simply what you grow, but how you grow it. You can read more about our palm oil project in Ghana on www.drbronner.com!
