Q: Can this be used on children to help with Folliculitis

submitted by Lizzie - 4 years ago
  • A: For sensitive skin, we recommend our Classic Baby Soap, as it does not contain any essential oils and is slightly more moisturizing than our other varieties. Our soaps do not clog pores. Instead, because of the pH level of the soaps, they open the pores to allow a deep cleaning of the skin. Our soaps have been known to help reduce acne, eczema and psoriasis because of their ability to clean the skin without harsh chemicals. Although our soaps have not been tested to see whether they are noncomedogenic, they have been used for many years with great success to those with sensitive skin. While our soaps don’t contain any preservatives or detergents that may cause some irritation, we always recommend those with sensitive skin consult with their medical professional prior to using a new product.

submitted bySarah - 4 years ago
  • A: Pro tip, soaps derived from botanical oils like this one, with a wonky pH, tend to leave a residue and irritate inflammatory skin conditions more than they help. Try a product that's free of the most common irritants like fragrance, botanical oils especially volatile botanicals like tea tree and citrus, and dyes. (And try to avoid all types of added fragrance for awhile.)

Q: Hi is this soap antiviral and/or antibacterial?

submitted by dessy - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Dessy, Soap that is labeled “antibacterial” is any soap or detergent that has had active antimicrobial ingredients added to it. Because our soap does not have these specific ingredients added to it, it cannot be labeled as “antibacterial.” However, the US Food and Drug Administration published a report indicating that soap and water is just as effective at mechanically removing microbes as antibacterial soap is at killing microbes. In addition, antibacterial soap can kill good microbes along with the bad, and often contains known toxins such as triclosan. For these reasons we believe our soap is ultimately safer and just as effective as an antibacterial agent, even though it is not labeled as such. You might also find Lisa Bronner’s blog post “Ditch the Antibacterial: Soap Is All You Need” interesting. https://www.lisabronner.com/ditch-the-antibacterial-soap-is-all-you-need/ Please feel free to reach out to directly if you have any further questions.

submitted by Avery Cahill - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi Avery! Dr. Bronner's 18-in-1 Hemp Pure Castile Soap -Tea Tree is an excellent facial cleanser. We recommend using 2-3 drops on wet hands or a wet wash cloth. You can also use it as a body wash by using one squirt on your wash cloth or loofah sponge. Hope this helps!

Q: Can this product be used as a shampoo for natural hair?

submitted by nellie - 5 years ago
  • A: Yes, you can definitely shampoo with the castile soaps. It's not recommended to use them with color-treated hair. It is important to also pair the soap with an acidic conditioning rinse, such as Dr. Bronner’s Organic Citrus Conditioning Hair Rinse or apple cider vinegar.

Perfect for sensitive skin but

I have bad sensitive skin and so does my boyfriend I got this for both of us to use as a healthy body wash. My skin after two weeks of use looks healthier, and when you get out of the shower you don’t feel like there’s residue on your skin. The only reason this is not a 5 star is because this scent in particular isn’t very nice and it doesn’t leave any type of fresh scent.

Smells Flamable

Been using Dr Bronner's for years. This is the first time for Tea Tree Castile. Thinking of how much I liked the other products, I purchased a gallon. Mistake. I should have bought a smaller size the first time. What I don't like about this one is the fragrance. It has a hint of paint thinner. Instead of using it for bathing I will use it for general house cleaning. Dr Bronner's will still be my go to shampoo and body wash. Just no this one.

Hair falling out

5 out of 5 stars
Jill - 2 months ago

Love this for my hands. After civid my hands were so chaped and terrible. Nothing worked until this soap. However, this soap caused a big clump of hair to fall out. And then hair falling out every day. I switched to the Tea Tree bar soap and my hair still fell out but not clumps like the regular soap. I have had hair fall out, I am older but never like this. Now I need to return the hair rinse 2 of the 3 I purchased R not open. I continue to use the regular soap and the bar soap for my hands and body. Something good that happened with my nails. I had a vertical split in my thumb nail for about 5 years, nothing worked to fix it. After I started using the regular Tea Tree soap to wash my hands that split healed. And it healed quickly. I have to assume it was your soap.

Great for camping

4 out of 5 stars

Being so concentrated it was great to save space while camping. Versatile for dishes, clothes, hands and anything else unexpected that may come up. I thought tea tree would be great for its antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral properties out in the elements. And it wasn’t so overpowering that the scent lasted on my dishes. Cooks be a little more moisturizing.

I enjoy the tea tree for cleaning my home. I appreciate the effectiveness, and a little goes a long way. Mopping with this pulls up so much more dirt than conventional cleaners. I also enjoy the peppermint to clean my surfaces with too. Super fresh & clean. You can’t go wrong with Castile soap.
