Q: Can this be used on children to help with Folliculitis

submitted by Lizzie - 5 years ago
  • A: For sensitive skin, we recommend our Classic Baby Soap, as it does not contain any essential oils and is slightly more moisturizing than our other varieties. Our soaps do not clog pores. Instead, because of the pH level of the soaps, they open the pores to allow a deep cleaning of the skin. Our soaps have been known to help reduce acne, eczema and psoriasis because of their ability to clean the skin without harsh chemicals. Although our soaps have not been tested to see whether they are noncomedogenic, they have been used for many years with great success to those with sensitive skin. While our soaps don’t contain any preservatives or detergents that may cause some irritation, we always recommend those with sensitive skin consult with their medical professional prior to using a new product.

submitted bySarah - 5 years ago
  • A: Pro tip, soaps derived from botanical oils like this one, with a wonky pH, tend to leave a residue and irritate inflammatory skin conditions more than they help. Try a product that's free of the most common irritants like fragrance, botanical oils especially volatile botanicals like tea tree and citrus, and dyes. (And try to avoid all types of added fragrance for awhile.)

Q: Hi is this soap antiviral and/or antibacterial?

submitted by dessy - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi Dessy, Soap that is labeled “antibacterial” is any soap or detergent that has had active antimicrobial ingredients added to it. Because our soap does not have these specific ingredients added to it, it cannot be labeled as “antibacterial.” However, the US Food and Drug Administration published a report indicating that soap and water is just as effective at mechanically removing microbes as antibacterial soap is at killing microbes. In addition, antibacterial soap can kill good microbes along with the bad, and often contains known toxins such as triclosan. For these reasons we believe our soap is ultimately safer and just as effective as an antibacterial agent, even though it is not labeled as such. You might also find Lisa Bronner’s blog post “Ditch the Antibacterial: Soap Is All You Need” interesting. https://www.lisabronner.com/ditch-the-antibacterial-soap-is-all-you-need/ Please feel free to reach out to directly if you have any further questions.

Q: Can you use it on your face

submitted by Avery Cahill - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi Avery! Dr. Bronner's 18-in-1 Hemp Pure Castile Soap -Tea Tree is an excellent facial cleanser. We recommend using 2-3 drops on wet hands or a wet wash cloth. You can also use it as a body wash by using one squirt on your wash cloth or loofah sponge. Hope this helps!

Q: Can this product be used as a shampoo for natural hair?

submitted by nellie - 6 years ago
  • A: Yes, you can definitely shampoo with the castile soaps. It's not recommended to use them with color-treated hair. It is important to also pair the soap with an acidic conditioning rinse, such as Dr. Bronner’s Organic Citrus Conditioning Hair Rinse or apple cider vinegar.

SCENT IS HORRIBLE

I have used it twice now and have to throw it away. The scent is awful. I don't need a heavy scent, and I actually prefer very little scent if any at all. But this stuff smells like a combination of motor oil, peat moss, and dirt. I got out of the shower and my wife said I smelled like I was just gardening at the auto repair shop. We have used various tea tree oils over the years, and the scent is something I have grown to like, to some extent. But this stuff is just off the mark with it's odor (note: I was going to use "fragrance" rather than "odor", but fragrance is often used for a smell that is pleasureable, or at least bearable....and this stuff is neither).

I've been using Dr. Bronner's soaps for bathing (and hand-washing as needed) for at least the last several years, and have never been disappointed nor had regrets of any sort! It does the job well, without any undesirable "side-effects" or residue.

I use this soap in all of my foaming soap dispensers, bathroom and kitchen. I also use it as a household cleaner for counters and floors. It gets the job done and I especially appreciate that I am not exposing myself or my family and pets to toxic chemicals. Thank you!

Good, but too expensive. Don't buy from Target. Buy from a store that has a reasonable price instead.

Some flavors of Dr. Bronner's have switched to using clearly fake "essential oils", but tea tree smells legitimate and does affect pimples correctly. So therefore the tea tree EO is probably at least still real EO, albeit it won't be a high-quality and unadulterated EO.

Most face washes cause me to break out. I used this and my breakouts cleared up! I appreciate that the ingredients are all natural, and I don’t have to worry about toxicity for my body or the environment. It can be drying at first. I can’t use moisturizer either due to breakouts, and my skin seems to have stabilized after initial dryness. My skin looks way better than the “dermatologist recommended” brands I tried!

Compared to the 32 oz size. The 1 gallon soap is on the thin side. Didn't even last long compared to the 32 oz liquids soap.

Tea tree is my favorite scent but I have used many different kinds. I use it for hand soap, laundry detergent, bathing my dog and cats, shower soap...so many great uses and you can mix it with water to make it go further without losing its effectiveness.

I just love Dr. Bronner's products! This is my second year of purchasing gallon sized jugs of scented Castille Soaps and Sal Suds, for all my cleaning needs. The gallon sized products provide a great value and I don't have to keep reordering every few months. I prefer using the Tea Tree as a shower soap that I rotate in every few days as it provides deep cleaning and I feel refreshed. Plus, it seems to help with the bumps on the backs of my arms.
