The Dyson Slim Ball upright vacuum cleaner is engineered to remove dirt and microscopic dust on all floors, for tough tasks. The advanced self-adjusting cleaner head automatically adjusts between all floor types - sealing in suction for a powerful clean across your entire home. Its wand and hose release in 1 smooth action to make it easier to clean up high and under furniture. Whole-machine HEPA filtration, ensures that allergens and bacteria are trapped inside the machine, not expelled back into the home.
This thing is a beast, and not in a good way. It has awesome suction, but it is massive and extremely heavy to push around and makes vacuuming while holding my baby on my hip impossible, which means very little vacuuming gets done. It also won't work on even my low pile rugs because the suction is too intense, so it just sticks and I have to scramble to turn it off before it overheats. I thought this would be the perfect vacuum, and we finally splurged after having no luck with cheap ones, but this is horrible. I will be returning it.

Hi Alex, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm happy to hear that thus far in your use, you've been so pleased with the suction power of your Dyson Slim Ball Animal. It's unusual to hear that the suction is too powerful for your lower pile rugs. We also wouldn't expect to hear that your machine is regularly overheating. While I understand you're intending to return your purchase, we'd value the opportunity to learn more regarding your experience, as we're dedicated to customer satisfaction. Please consider emailing us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com. We look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
Before this vacuum I had a shark navigator lift-away. Compared to that, this is way better on carpets. The suction is better, but it's the brush bar that shines. It works up all the pet hair, unlike the shark, and leaves nice lines in really old apartment carpet.
The tangle free tool has my cat tower as free of hair as the carpet. I will say, as far as the attachments go, the shark was more ergonomical to hold. The unit itself is very easy to maneuver.
Overall, it's perfect for me. My apartment is 90% carpet and that's what this does best. If I had stairs though, I'd probably keep looking.
This vacuum is amazing. It’s light weight. Fairly easy to clean, and has several attachments for various tasks. I love it. I’ve only had it a couple weeks, so I can’t speak to it’s life... but so far, a great investment.
This is my third dyson ball vacuum and I have a stick one for my wood floors. I gave my first one to my daughter in college and I have two at home. I absolutely love them. It's amazing how cleaning out all the filters brings back the suction. This lighter one had incredible suction on thick carpets.
This is my second Dyson. I had the first one, also an animal upright, for 17 years. It still worked, but a few of the external plastic parts had gotten broken, and I decided it was time to move on when I saw this one on sale. The design has been updated, but it's the same superior Dyson engineering and the basic function is similar with some flexibility improvements. A former housemate of mine used to refer to my Dyson as "the Ferrari of vacuum cleaners," and I have to agree. They are superior machines. I expect to get many years of good use from my new Dyson.
