Texture is dry and is like wet cardboard. It just feels wrong on my teeth. If you are happy about spending $9 on that, go for it. The flavor is fine if you like a lingering aftertaste. I was stubborn and I figured I could ignore previous reviews. I wish I didn’t.

I did not care for the texture or taste at all. I’ve tried other steak alternatives and this is the worst one imo. The texture was very off putting almost like mushed up cardboard LOL I wanted to try it because of the protein but I threw it out. I just couldn’t get past it.

It literally makes you sick after eating. You violently vomit TIL there’s nothing left. Go look at other similar complaints in Reddit. This product should be taken off shelves.

Great texture and flavor. Big hit even with my 12yr old. Like most alternative meats you have to make it well done….almost burnt

I actually like the taste, but I don't use it as a vegan steak substitute, instead I thaw and cooked it in the microwave and use it as a tuna alternative for vegan sushi bowls or nori wraps. It also is very good with an Alfredo type sauce too! 😊 The only problem is that it is too pricey, but the ingredients are pretty good and you get fiber! 💩

Love these. Comes closest to taste, texture and mouth-feel of a traditional meat beef steak. Kind of pricey, but a nice treat when craving something hardy. I had to add a little salt to taste, so it's not overly flavored with spices. Tastes like meat!

Disgusting. Fyi, I call myself a garbage disposal because I'll eat anything and I eat a lot of it. In short, if this was all I had to eat for a month I would reach my weight loss goals because I would choose starvation over eating this. The people who gave it 5 stars must be really supportive family members of the person who created meati and feel okay lying to the public for the sake of this brand because I cannot believe anyone created this, tried it, then thought to themselves "wow, I should share this with the masses". And then someone else agreed to manufacture it? Unbelievable. The texture was horrible and the flavor was worse. I drenched it in sauce I love and still made faces while I ate it, and began writing this review to distract myself from what I was chewing. The only reason I ate it was because it was so expensive I couldn't justify tossing it. I hope no one ever has to eat food this gross in their lives.

Great healthy steak alternative. NEEDS at least five mins of rest after cooking for the best texture. Awesome in tacos, salads, etc.

Upon discovering your product, MushroomRoot Steaks, I promptly decided to make a purchase. I followed your cooking instructions precisely and included the steaks in our preferred stroganoff recipe. Regrettably, I must convey that my wife and I were unable to eat even half of our meal, ultimately resulting in the disposal of the majority of the dish. Given the price we paid, along with the costs associated with the other ingredients, we were exceedingly disappointed. I am not certain if we retain the receipt, but I believe we spent between $7 and $8 for your product. Is there any remedy you might offer in light of this experience? *** Now to my comments for Target: This product is awful to say the least. Turns out it cost more than I stated above.. Have you guys tried this?! If you had, you probably wouldn't be selling it.

Not tasty I wouldn’t try

I never imagined I’d find anything close to an actual steak, as a vegan. The flavor and texture was so spot on, my very carnivorous father even liked it and he hates vegan food generally.

Worst food poisoning of my life. My boyfriend and I were vomiting for 2 hours and both almost passed out due to how sick we were. This was a little over an hour after eating this. We both do not get sick ever. This brand should be taken off the market. The entire night was a nightmare.

Wonderful meat alternative. Great as a stand alone streaks and even better in a vegetarian pot roast!

Tasted like seasoned paper. The texture was the worse I’ve ever had in my life. I threw it away after the first bite. Wish I can get my money back

I bought these at Target at a good price. I pan fried with salt and pepper, olive oil and pinch of butter with onions. Add steak sauce. It was really good. I went back to buy and the are out of stock. Target, are you getting more? Please do!

My three and five year olds LOVE these. Don't love the price, but they are so good!

I was pleasantly surprised

Inedible. Looked, smelled, and tasted like canned dog food. I had purchased the “chicken” as well and threw it away without even trying it.

Very very good! Texture, taste, and super filling. Definitely will buy this again!
