It does the job, but not the best of the Ecobee
I've had the product a month now. I installed it myself and the installation instructions in the app were great. I have the Smart Thermostat Enhanced in a different house and thought this would be a good choice. While it does what it is supposed to do, the smaller screen makes it harder to make changes. Things that on on the main screen in my Enhanced are on a secondary screen in the Essential and harder to find. Also I find the the Essential lets the temperature vary much more than the Enhanced does. It does give me the remote access that I really wanted.

Great Thermostat – Easy Install, Clear Instructions I’m very impressed with this Ecobee thermostat. Installation was straightforward and well thought out, even for someone doing it themselves. The instructions were clear, logical, and easy to follow step by step, which made the whole process smooth and stress-free. Once installed, it worked exactly as expected right out of the box. Solid design, intuitive setup, and excellent guidance throughout. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a smart thermostat that’s simple to install and use.

Works
Had unit for 2 was. It is amazing how little our furnace runs. Under 1/2 hr a day. Great way of tracking temps. Inside,outside,humidity, and how long furnace runs. Gadget cool guy thing. I like tech.

Case #02706455 EXTREAMLY DIFFICULT to get help!
Have been back and forth by email and a couple calls BUT ISSUE NOT RESOLVED. Now they don’t want to communicate with me. I get "Thermostat sensor detected motion" hundred times a day 😡. Just want these to STOP. Today I called in twice and opted for a call back each time and I’m unable get on the line, they leave a message saying call back 😡. Why not just keep calling back.

Great out of the box features, some tradeoffs
The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Essential is easy to install and get up and running, the app walks you through nearly everything. I did find that the Automatic Staging options mask many configuration settings (like the temp threshold) that I would like to have access to, but others may not require that. I did find the Alexa interface very limited - all you can do via voice command or routine is set a temporary temperature hold

Good Product ..... BUT
Not the easiest to install .. call to the help desk quickly took care of that. The main complaint I have is there is no operator's manual available. None came with the unit and none is available to download. Frequently referred to the operator's manual on my previous thermostat when I needed to make a change and could always find the answer .... now will have stop and make a call. When before I could usually find the answer in the manual. I will mention this issue to anyone who might ask me about 'how I like my new thermostat'.

Rent upstairs and renters love to modify thermostat to weird setting (Florida res like it too low, while i freeze in winter downstairs & Summer? CRAZY. This product limits settings, allows me to moitour and adjust remote. NICE

DO NOT GET THIS!! You will regret it. At least twice a week it resets and goes into calibration mode, during which it turns off locks out access to your heat and cool.
