ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium: Wi-Fi, Voice Control, Touch Screen, Smartphone App, IFTTT, Alexa, Google Assistant Compatible

I bought the Premium Smart Thermostat after an electrical storm fried my previous ~10 year old ecobee 3 lite. I loved my ecobee so I immediately looked at the models they have available. While I originally wasn't going to go with the Premium because of the cost difference (it didn't seem worth it for the additional features and my personal use), the rebate from my utility provider made it a more reasonable and approachable number. I love the ease of use and autonomy that it continues to deliver from models pass, while the additional information from the included sensors is great to occasionally look at to keep an eye on things. I love that it works with HomeKit, and the larger screen is a nice upgrade from the 3 lite. The smart sensors in my room do a good job of keeping track of temperature in occupied rooms. I highly recommend it, especially if getting that rebate!

We recently purchased two Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium units, and both have significant temperature accuracy issues. One consistently reads about 3 degrees hotter than both an Ecobee SmartSensor and a separate ambient thermometer placed directly next to it. The other reads approximately 4-5 degrees cooler than both devices under the same conditions. We contacted Ecobee support and spent over two and a half hours troubleshooting. Support acknowledged a recently identified bug affecting some Smart Thermostat Premium devices that causes incorrect temperature readings and pushed a firmware update to the thermostat reading too warm. The discrepancy did not immediately resolve, and we still had to use the thermostat's temperature correction while monitoring whether the update would ultimately fix it. For the thermostat reading too cool, support attributed the discrepancy to our ceiling fan and suggested sealing the opening behind the thermostat with plumber's putty. We tried that as well, with no improvement. We then placed an Ecobee SmartSensor at the same height and directly next to the thermostat, along with an independent thermometer. We kept the ceiling fan on. Both agreed with each other while the thermostat remained 4–5 degrees off. Ecobee's ultimate recommendation was to exclude the thermostat from temperature readings and rely on the separate SmartSensor instead. Support also explained that, because the thermostat's temperature sensor is more sensitive, the SmartSensor could provide a more accurate reading in our situation. That is unacceptable for a premium thermostat. Accurately reading room temperature is one of its most basic functions. We should not need additional sensors placed beside the thermostats just to compensate for inaccurate readings. We asked Ecobee to provide complimentary sensors since that was their proposed workaround. They declined and instead offered us a discount to buy more sensors. We purchased premium thermostats expecting them to perform a basic thermostat function accurately. Instead, we received two brand-new units that are inaccurate by several degrees in opposite directions, with the suggested solution being to work around their own temperature sensors.

One of the best decisions I made after moving into my home was contacting Palmetto Electric to join their thermostat program. I upgraded to the Ecobee Premium thermostat and love its features, especially the mobile app that lets me control my home’s temperature from anywhere. I’m excited to save money thanks to the smart features while still keeping my home comfortable.

I have had this for 3-4 weeks now. I came off a Gen 2 Nest, which I loved, until they sold out to Google, then Google sold me out to the electric company which started adjusting my thermostat during the day. I work from home. Long story short, they no longer support Gen 2 and killed the app. Ecobee came highly recommended, and it hasn't disappointed. Simple to install. Simple to setup. The only gotcha was, you need to install the app on your phone before you try to install the thermostat. It works great. I have a separate sensor in my office, so it knows I'm there. Not sure how that helps, but why not. The app is OK and like another app. It takes a minute to figure out where everything is. It seems to be accurate and responsive.

Very easy to install and setup. The temperature and humidity seem to be very accurate. Worked with a dual zone system without any issues. Easy to use is quick to respond to either commands via the app or thermostat itself. Interface is easy to use and seems to save money making things more efficient.

This was an upgrade from an earlier ecobee Smart Thermostat model so I was already familiar with the product. The installation instructions didn’t specifically an upgrade scenario, but I took pictures of all the configuration screens on the original thermostat to capture the existing settings, and the wiring. My new thermostat works great and I appreciate the enhancements that the new model provides.

I've had the thermostat for just under a month and it is so easy to program and use. It has maintained our home in comfort. I've very satisfied with my Ecobee thermostat.

4 weeks in, and it seems to be functioning as intended. Two cons: The Ecobee pulls outside temp/weather from Apple weather, a notoriously inaccurate site. Comparing it with my own temp gauge, Weather Underground, and The Weather Channel, the Ecobee is consistently off by 3-8 degrees (while the other three are almost always within 1-2 degrees from each other). Trying to set the outside temp threshold for my dual fuel system to switch over from heat pump to gas furnace is way too convoluted.

Our Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium has worked flawlessly since we installed it just over 3 weeks ago. Set up was very straightforward and only took a few minutes. Features on the thermostat are very user friendly and extremely easy to use. Even though our furnace and central air conditioner are in excess of 15 years old, the Power Extender Kit (PEK) allowed us to connect the thermostat to be compatible with both units. Highly recommend this product if you are considering upgrading your present thermostat.

I had a more basic wifi thermostat prior to the ecobee and switching to this thermostat was simple yet provided me with so many more options and functions than I had before. Connected to the wifi with nearly zero effort (just had to remember my wifi password) and then it was a breeze to set up. Connected to Alexa which was a nice touch but I may switch to Siri in the future. I have enough Alexa devices around already. It also integrated into my Home Assistant ecosystem with zero issues.

I've had two thermostats for about two weeks. I am really happy with how easy it was to set up the app. It was easy to install the thermostats, and they are compatible with my HVAC system. I like the idea of the eco+ feature and being able to use the app to adjust temperatures and not having to touch the thermostats. I like that they show the humidity and air quality in the house. I like having the sensors to change the temperature when we are not home. Worth it for the price.

I have had this upgraded version for a few weeks since our prior heat pump had to be replaced and this replaced an ecobee lite model we had before. It came with a sensor as well which we didn’t have before. It is working very well and integrates well with Apple HomeKit.

I have had the thermostat for a few weeks, and it is doing well. It has learned the house patterns, and it feels more comfortable. I live at the beach, and between 4 and 6 PM, the house is at its weakest cooling ability. The learning has helped it adjust, and we are very comfortable, instead of complaining. I did add sensors so that it averages the temp through the house. In my opinion, that is the golden ticket. I have added the door sensors and doorbell camera. Everything plays well with Apple.

Transitioning to Wi-Fi-enabled climate control has been a major upgrade, making it effortless to monitor our HVAC system and adjust temperatures from our phones, tablets, or computers. We also added a SmartSensor to our bedroom, which has significantly improved our comfort and temperature accuracy at night. We are very happy with our choice and highly recommend this thermostat.

Like this product but there’s a feature on it that absolutely drives me crazy! It’s called eco plus and it basically turns down your temperature for you when it’s an expensive time to do it even when you don’t want it to be that cold and you can’t turn it off for longer than a week! It’s the most frustrating thing, can’t wait to not have to deal with it anymore. It has an option to turn off indefinitely but when I try and click it it won’t load. Other than that I like it but that’s a pretty big deal for us. Sometimes we will wake up and it’s freezing in here. Just a real pain in the butt if you ask me.

I decided to install an AC system and they installed an ecobee smart thermostat . I was worried when they told me to install the app because I'm not very good understanding apps. But I was surprised how easy it was to set up my account. I even signed up with my utility company for the Smart Rewards program. I love the thermostat because it is easy to read and I can easily control the temperature manually without my phone. I'm sure it does a lot of other things but as I said I'm not not good apps. I'm a senior and it keeps the whole house the correct temperature with (ET...that's what I call it)plus the bright large numbers are easy to read. Lets me know the humidity level clean air and the temperature outside. Love it

So since I've had this installed the ecobee has been very easy to operate and it's worked very well

I am really enjoying my new ecobee, easy to setup, use, and make adjustments
