Book Synopsis

Un valiente álbum que promueve el Día de la Familia. Hay muchos tipos de familias, pero algo común a todas ellas: el amor. En el día de la Familia ninguna niña o niño se sentirá excluído y celebrará el amor por sus seres queridos.

En el cole, la profe quiere que sus alumnos hagan un dibujo por el Día de la Familia y que retraten a la suya. Algunos alumnos hacen preguntas, y la profe les explica que hay muchos niños y niñas sin papá, sin mamá o sin ambos, también con dos papás o dos mamás, abuelos... y no por eso tienen que quedarse sin celebrar un día especial. Todas las familias son válidas, necesarias y a todas se las quiere por igual.

A wonderful children's picture book that celebrates the diversity of families and promotes Family Day as a day where no child should feel left out.

At school, the teacher wants her students to draw a picture of their families for Family Day. Some students ask questions, and the teacher explains that families come in all shapes and sizes: some children have only one parent; some have two moms or two dads; some live with their grandparents. Yet, whether they are big or small, look alike or different, the children learn that every family is special in its own unique way.

About the Author

Luis Amavisca is a well-known visual artist and children´s writer in Spain. He has worked and written about equality, solidarity, environment and non-violence. His Bang Bang I Hurt the Moon, was runner-up for the Most Inspirational Children's Picture Book in the International Latino Book Awards.

He is the author, along with Alicia Acosta, of two highly successful co-education books: I Love My Colorful Nails! and Benji's Doll.

Marisa Morea is a children's books illustrator. After graduating in Creative Illustration at Eina School in Barcelona in 2009, she returned to Madrid to work as an art director in various advertising agencies while receiving her first illustration commissions, including various international publishers. In 2013 she decided to quit advertising to fully dedicate herself to illustration. Since then she has worked with publishers such as Simon and Schuster, Nosy Crow, SM or Penguin Random House.
