Soccer is a battle of ideas. Teams face each other according to the concepts their coaches thought, and they seek to "convince" their opponent in the most powerful way: by defeating them and imposing their own idea.

From its inception, soccer has developed great ideas that have evolved, clashed, mixed, and mutated by will or necessity, creating great schools of thought regarding soccer.

Soccer has done nothing more than emulate philosophy, as if they were parallel universes, just as Zlatan Ibrahimovic said back in his day, unaware that his statement was not an insult, but an exact definition of the sport, behind which great ideas linger.

About the Author

Martí Perarnau, nacido en Barcelona (1955), participó en los Juegos Olímpicos de Moscú de 1980 en salto de altura, especialidad en la que fue campeón y recordman de España en todas las categorías. Ejerció de periodista durante quince años, tras los que se dedicó al mundo de la gestión, primero como director del centro principal de prensa de los Juegos de Barcelona 1992 y, posteriormente, como director general de empresas audiovisuales. Desde 2011 ha publicado cinco libros: Senda de campeones, dedicado a La Masia del FC Barcelona; Herr Pep y Pep Guardiola. La Metamorfosis, crónica de los años de Guardiola en el Bayern Munich; La evolución táctica del fútbol (1863-1945), sobre los procesos que permitieron al fútbol desarrollarse desde sus orígenes; y Dios salve a Pep, relato de la etapa de Guardiola en el Manchester City.
