It could very well be it. The remote should have the type of batteries it takes. Normally ceiling fans and television remotes have AAA batteries, not A23. But the remote should say what type of batteries it takes.

I don't plan on switching to another brand; it was a good purchase at a time when I needed something durable.
In my opinion, I used it in a device that used those types of batteries and honestly, it was very good. In fact, I plan to stick with that brand of battery because it performed very well.
