  • A: Yes there are individual color cartridges. But the printer only comes with STARTER cartridges to get the machine up and running. You need to buy full size set of cartridges.. he starter ones run out

To help reduce the use of your color inks when printing, you can choose the Black/Grayscale setting. bought this printer in June 2022 and by March 2023, it was broken, giving errors with print cartridges. NOTE: IF you update ANY Epson printer firmware, be prepared it won't accept third-party ink cartridges. So Epson sent me a refurbished printer and I sent this one back. Fast forward to November 2023 and now this printer won't turn on. I get the green power light for a few seconds, no noises and then off. Called Epson and was told so sorry, it is out of warranty and nothing can do. I would avoid Epson printers or be sure you buy an extended warranty. This is no longer manufactured but buyer beware.

Goes through ink SO FAST. And you cannot print if one of your cartridges is out. Waste of money on this printer. I would return it if I could.

not wanting to print just black keeps saying to replace everything and is constantly asking to update. unfortunately it’s going in the trash as i feel it’s best to buy a new different printer for the price.

Dear Mayra, Epson printers contain a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors to work. Even when you are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged, preventing air bubbles from entering. Air bubbles can damage the print head. Ink for your Epson XP-4105 is available on Amazon or Epson.com by searching for the SKU number C11CG33202. The printer is nothing extraordinary. The quality of the print is mediocre. I had to print out some pictures and the quality was sub-par. But for basic print outs it get the job done.

After purchasing 2 brand new EPSON cartridges in the last month (at a cost of more than I paid for the printer less than a year ago), and the printer still doesn’t print properly, I’ve given up. This thing is rubbish and stopped working after very limited use. Do not buy!

Stopped working after 2 months. Continuously gave a paper jam error although there was no paper jam. Tried a million times to reset it and nothing seems to work. Don’t waste your money.

Epson's reputation destroyed

I will never buy a epson product again after going through 4 of these I am convinced this is the worst printer of all time, worse than anything I've come across in the past 20 years of my professional life. 4 of these printers exhibited the exact same issue: once you use up the test cartridge that comes with the printer it is impossible to successfully install a new cartridge without depleting every other cartridge in the machine. Simply put, this machine is disposable! 4 times I had to return this model and now the 5th is starting to do the same thing. I can see why epson is discontinuing this model , it's print head/ nozzles are trash.

Money draining maching

This printer is the biggest scam. I’m absolutely furious with this purchase. For something I hardly use, the ink runs out far too quickly. 1. You can’t print in “Black and white” if the other cartridges are empty and there is no work around. 2. Replacing the other 3 cartridges will completely deplete your black ink that is 3 quarters full when it runs it’s initialization after installation. 3. The full cartridges I just bought and installed are now 3 quarters full after initialization. You can’t justify this robbery. When I get a new printer I’m going to smash this one because it would be devilish to donate because it’s not going to help anyone. Now back to the store I go for more black ink. You get 1 star for an excellent way to steal from people legally.

Not worth anything

Sure it works the way it was intended for the first couple months. Then you realize you can’t refill the ink cartridges manually, but actually have to purchase new ink every time you run out. On top of that, if you’re out of ANY color ink, you cannot print at all. For example if you just want to print a document in black and white, but you’re out of the magenta ink, too bad, can’t print. And now, after all the ink I’ve purchased in the past year, I have to troubleshoot and do “maintenance” on the printer, to fix the vertical and horizontal missing ink lines on my printed pages, using up more ink than what I actually wanted to print! It’s only been a year and 2 months, and this printer already doesn’t work well. Sure I’ll use it if I’m ok with having a faded page with missing ink lines, but for any creative project, forget it. It’s useless. And I’ve spent twice as much on ink as the printer and I don’t even print that much; just the random needed document or package label, or random creative project. Save your money and frustration and just buy a laser printer.

Poor Integrity Software built to Manipulate consumer spend

This printers hardware was built to ONLY allow Epson branded cartridge replacements when ink runs out (INK RUNS OUT SO FAST)— upon attempting to be cost effective and alleviate my spend on ink seemingly every month (I don’t even print that heavy) I purchase generic replacement cartridges, they wouldn’t work and upon YouTube searching how to fix I discovered they are actually REFILLABLE prototypes stickered over and made to be the only ones the printer will accept per a chip installed in the front that communicates to the printer. Honestly this is such a disgusting act of manipulation with no regard for the common finances of a family household, students, and otherwise. Epson is not invested in serving its customers it’s invested in being sneaky and trifling to get as much as your coin as possible.

Junk

In my 3 decades of using home printers, I have NEVER had such a piece of junk. It set up and they went awry a few weeks later. Then after uninstalling it and reinstalling it ... 3 times. It says that it "recommends" using their toner, and what should have been said is you HAVE TO USE IT. The toner does not last very long, and believe me, I do not do much printing at all. One more problem and I will be throwing it in the garbage.

Unknown errors and seems to be broken

This printer has issues.. the ink runs out extremely quickly. And then probably the 4th time I replaced the ink, something went wrong and now I just get errors and/or the paper jams and/or it prints with smudges all over the paper.

The printer works well. The only think I’m not a fan of is using the arrow buttons to navigate the settings. It would be better if it was touch screen. All in all it’s worth the purchase.

Drains ink

ABSOLUTE TRASH. Printing one or two pages drains the ink and every time I try and print I have to replace the ink. Not to mention it constantly turns off, and it constantly wants to update and will completely freeze the entire printer until you update it. I can’t even believe this printer is even still for sale. I would rather have my ten year old basic af printer again. Plus over priced ink cartridges that are microscopic. What a joke
