About the Author
Robert Julyan is the author of several books, including The Mountains of New Mexico and The Place Names of New Mexico, Revised Edition, both published by the University of New Mexico Press. He lives near Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mary Stuever is the state timber management officer with New Mexico's State Forestry Division. Her syndicated column The Forester's Log appears in newspapers in communities throughout the U.S. and Canada.
