Q: How effective is the feature that screens out cooking smoke?Although I am not a cook who creates burned food, current units. I get lost of false alarms with I'd be interested in hearing from actual users who have experience.
A: Thank you for your question. Our SCO501CN is photoelectric which is generally better near the kitchen. However, the kitchen air flow has a lot to do with it.
submitted byMoscoe Group - 3 years agoBrand expertA: Thank you for your question. We apologize for any inconvenience. We recommend not placing smoke alarms near the following areas: • In air streams near kitchens. Air currents can draw cooking smoke into the sensing chamber of a Smoke Alarm near the kitchen. Alarm should be located 20ft from combustion sources • In very damp, humid or steamy areas, or directly near bathrooms with showers. Keep units at least 10 feet (3 meters) away from showers, saunas, dishwashers, etc. With that said, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at First Alert at at 1 (800)-323-9005 with any additional questions or concerns. We look forward to hearing from you.
