  • A: Thank you for your question. We apologize for any inconvenience. We recommend not placing smoke alarms near the following areas: • In air streams near kitchens. Air currents can draw cooking smoke into the sensing chamber of a Smoke Alarm near the kitchen. Alarm should be located 20ft from combustion sources • In very damp, humid or steamy areas, or directly near bathrooms with showers. Keep units at least 10 feet (3 meters) away from showers, saunas, dishwashers, etc. With that said, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at First Alert at at 1 (800)-323-9005 with any additional questions or concerns. We look forward to hearing from you.

IT HAS ALL THE FEATURES THAT I WANTED: BATTERY OPERATED, VOICE ALERT AS WELL AS ALARM AND THE POTENTIAL TO SET UP FUTURE ALARMS THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE AND GARAGE CONNECTING TO THIS ONE. ALL IN ALL, IT SEEMS TO BE A PRETTY GREAT ALARM!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] this product is great if you are prepared to hard wire it. i love that everything is all connected into one place. you can control with all or using voice to turn on alexa. i love waking up and asking alexa what is the temperature. i would say that the one thing to pay attention to is if your house is hard wired to install this. if it is no i would suggest looking into something else. the instructions state easy to replace if already hard wired but ours was not. so just be aware of details when purchasing. otherwise this is a fantastic produce for both safety and convience.

Blends in home

I don't care for detectors because they normally stand out like a sore thumb. But you got to have them and so I was real picky when choosing one and I'm very happy with this one. Blends in well in my house. Doesn't stand out as an eyesore. Nice model. I would recommend.

Garbage, right out of the box

Unit is defective. Even if it works, you don't want this. The first thing it does is scream voice commands at you. It doesn't know where it is. It can't find wireless. All loud enough to be heard over a jet engine. Then it told me to start the test. And it just started beeping and wouldn't stop. Sending this back. These smoke alarm companies should focus on making an alarm that actually works and doesn't fail within a year rather than adding battery-draining wireless and useless voice commands. I need this to do one thing, beep if there's fire or carbon monoxide, and it can't even do that.

Fist Alert Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector

This First Alert Detector fit perfectly on the base of the original First Alert Detector that I had for 5 years before it signaled "end of life" just yesterday. I trust these detectors as they always test good and let you know if anything is wrong with them.

Cool product

First let me say this product was very cool, it was easier to install then I expected, just remove existing alarm and replace it with the onelink alarm. The added speaker allows you to listen to music thru out your home, and if the smoke detector goes off you can disarm it from anywhere in your home. It also has a really cool built in nightlight. The only problem I had was it was shipped to another location and so I received it 2 weeks after my tracking expected it to arrive to me. Overall I would recommend this to a friend! We got this a few weeks ago and it has given us all a piece of mind. It can be controlled by Alexa with hands free commands. It was so easy to install and sync with Alrexa. I like that we can find out what is happening if we are at home or away with the app. You can use it with your music as well with the built in bluetooth, instant speakers!! I recommend this product to everyone to give your self a piece of mind to know you and your family are safe from CO and as a smoke alarm. So thankful we have this in our home. at peace with the extra security

I have been interested in buying an alexa for awhile but who knew that I could get the added security to go with it. I recently had smoke detectors installed but replaced my kitchen one with this product and love the added comfort of having the smoke detector and carbon monoxide in one and an added bonus with the alexa to check the weather or listening to music while cooking or entertaining guest. I feel so much more secure knowing I have the smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors in the home due to having a fire in my home 15 plus years ago when I didn't have the working detectors. I also have friends who had family affected from carbon monoxide poisoning and losing family members to this tragedy. The added peace makes this product so worth everything it costs. Great Pairing!

The First Alert Onelink Safe & Sound Smart Wired Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector with Alexa is a great pairing of two 'must haves' in a modern household. The hardest part of the install was finding someone to hard wire the device since we did not have existing wires in the ceiling. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and tech support is easy to reach. The sound quality is good, but if music is playing, a person needs to speak loudly for Alexa to hear. This was our first experience with Alexa and we are excited to learn all the features. I feel confident about the detector - we ran a test and the sound is clear and loud. I received this product at no cost in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. There are lots of videos to help with install available online. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Small protection

I am so surprise at how small this wires smoke and carbon monoxide detector is. It literally can fix in both hands. A whole 3400 sq foot house protected by something so tiny. I also loves that it is run by Alexa. I literally did nothing to install and hook it up but connect it to Alexa. She sits all the setting and all. It was so simple. I am hoping I never have to see how good the fire alarm actually works. But I am sure it works wonderfully. I am in love with the size and technology of the product. A Smart Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detector? YES!

4 out of 5 stars
mls1011 - 6 years ago

Could a smoke and carbon monoxide detector ever be something you'd LOVE to use? Hopefully not--until you pair it with Alexa. Ok, so I had my doubts. Could this really do all these things? First Alert is known for their smoke/carbon monoxide products, so I didn't doubt there, but would Alexa really work like it was promised? The answer is YES, it does work. Alexa works good and also sounds good! The detector itself was really easy to install (I could do it myself with existing wiring!). Highly, highly recommend. It's a little pricey, but it's also a really unique, cutting edge product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The First Alert Onelink is truly an amazing product. I love that if there is smoke or carbon monoxide detected inside my home, i get an alert on my phone using the handy app, no matter where im at. With the built in home speaker with Alexa i can downsize some of my other electronics and go hands free throughout my home. This device was very easy to install and setup. It also has a neat nightlight feature. I fully recommend this product. Its a great addition for any home. I never imagined my "smoke alarm" could be so functional.
