It entertains my 3 and my 5 year old and it has helped them tremendously with fine motor skills and creativity as they lace all the pieces independently and also together, and multiple colors in the same piece. Their patience has improved tremendously as they learn to lace it and couldn’t recommend this toy more!

The string is good quality and comes in different colors.This toy is great for improving your child's motor skills. Based on the quality of this toy it should stand up against the toughest kids.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This set is very high quality! Made from wood and not cardboard and the wood is very well finished so there’s no worrying about splinters! There are different designs on each side which are adorable and help keep the kids interest.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This toy comes with an assortment of colorful flowers and other garden staples like leaves and bugs. Aside from being vibrantly colorful, the wooden pieces are durable and sturdy; making them ideal for small hands. The play kit also includes several pieces of colorful shoe laces meant to be laced through the wooden pieces. A downside of this kit is that the box it comes in is cardboard. While you can keep it to store the pieces in it, it’s still cardboard and is easily damaged. This storage issue is kind of annoying because without a storage box the play kit pieces are easily misplaced. It would be great if it came with a reusable box with a lid or a little drawstring bag to help keep all the pieces together. This toy belongs to my 3 year old daughter and she really likes it now but she didn’t at first. She initially didn’t like it because she had a hard time lacing the laces through the holes but after several times of trying the toy she was able to figure it out. She now likes being able to work her way through the different pieces. She’ll start with the easier pieces (these pieces have less holes) and move her way up to the more difficult pieces (these pieces have more holes then others). We like to keep this in her backpack to take out in the car during a long car ride or at a restaurant. This toy is a fun way to help keep her busy and work on her hand/finger dexterity at the same time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Tiny Garden was a hit with entire family! We thought our two year old would love it but the whole family ended up playing with it. The older kids found they could use all the wooden pieces and all the laces to join all the pieces together in a row which fascinated the younger ones and encouraged even more play. The pieces are smooth, very sturdy and are easy to grasp at any age. The laces are the right length but not long enough to feel like a choking hazard. The one thing I wish Mattel would have included was something to hold it all, a little drawstring bag or have the packaging be an actual storage box. Other than that this is a fantastic toy for fine motor skills!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids were all excited to receive this Garden Lacing toy from the Mattel Play, Rate and Review program. Lacing is a wonderful fine-motor activity for children (and adults) of all ages to practice. My older kids enjoyed trying fancy lacing patterns and tying the different objects together. My younger kids enjoyed doing the basic in-out lacing. They also liked making flower necklaces for themselves and their dolls. The pictures on both sides of the wooden pieces are different, but for 3 of the 5 pieces the differences are not very noticeable. The larger flower and the butterfly have very different sides, which is fun for the younger kids. I like that the strings we received are several different colors, not just the blue and green in the product image. I do wish the product box could be used as a storage box so that you don't lose the pieces so quickly.

It really teaches my boys to focus on what they're doing and they have a lot of fun lacing the different shapes. They didn't know how to do it consecutively but they had fun running the string through all of the holes and making it their own. This toy is made very well and is very durable. The strings are shoelace material and are also able to withstand children.

The materials feel durable and well-made, and the smooth finish is perfect for little hands. It’s a fantastic tool for developing fine motor skills, helping children practice hand-eye coordination and dexterity in a fun and engaging way. Overall fun learning toy, it would be nice if it came in a better box for storage but a bin will do i guess.

The pieces are beautifully made sturdy wood, smooth edges, and bright, cheerful colors that keep her attention. The lacing activity is great for fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, and I love that it encourages quiet, focused play. It’s also compact enough to toss in a bag for car rides or restaurant trips. Highly recommend for ages 2–4, but also my 6 year old loved it!

My kids can be pretty rough with some toys - one of the first things my kids did after finishing lacing one was to start swinging it around with the excess lace. Considering my 5 and 4 year old sent some flying, the wooden blocks didn't have any scratches or dents afterwards. The laces have also held up well to a week's worth of play so far! The set comes with 5 wooden lacers and 5 laces. Each wooden lacer is double sided with a different picture on the back - my kids thought that was very fun. The holes in the lacers are big enough that lacing wasn't frustrating and small enough that they did have to put some focus and effort into it. My 2 year old (with supervision) was able to lace a few on her own! Overall, it's a quality product that is a great addition to our activity bin rotation, which includes quiet toys for rest time.

I love that the decorations are painted on rather than stickers so my kids won't peel them off. This holds my 3 and 5 year olds attention and helps keep them quiet at church, in the car or at meetings without handing them a screen.

While he was like this I showed him how to weave the string through the holes I could very noticeably see his whole body slow down and become so calm. He was so calm and happy to be figuring out how to string through each hole. This is truly a wonderful and genuinely engaging toy for kids.

The box is comes in is cardboard so not very durable; and I do wish it was a bit sturdier. All around its fine and great fine motor skill practice for littles.
