Q: Why are there 2 different tools in this picture?

submitted by Safeharbor49 - 3 years ago
  • A: The video shownb here is for a different Fiskars tool, a combination pole saw & pruner. Currently this video is shown on Target's site for both Fiskars Extendable Tree Saw & their Pruning Stik.

submitted byScott Moffatt - 1 year ago
  • A: Sorry, I'm not sure which image you're referring to. The item is one tool, though it does extend to reach higher tree limbs.

The teeth are great for cutting, the extendable handle is fantastic and solid, but oddly Fisker went with too thin of a blade. This could be such a phenomenal 5 star tool if the blade didn't literally bend and mess up your stroke at times. I will recommend this with the caveat that it's still usable, but understand that you will be irritated by the flimsy blade. If Fisker made a replacement blade that didn't bend, I would buy it, but I think this should be fixed for all units going forward.

I did two 40' tall Ash trees in two days, and I used this more than I did the chain saw, pruner and lopping shears combined. Its is so fast, lightweight and easy to use. The only improvement I would try is, make the tooth pitch slightly wider, so it is less likely to bind.

Non-Functional

I paid $41.99 for this item in store. The packaging is difficult to remove and prevents you from being able to return the item. I was aware of this at purchase, but be aware that the item is not the same item as pictured in the instructional video. I just needed an extendable saw. The problem is that the bolt does not fully tighten due to the nut I received having an off-center screw base. No matter how the saw is positioned, I cannot fully tighten the nut as the screw is a little bit skewed. Attaching a washer may help but I am going to throw the tool away as the loose nut makes it a safety hazard. The saw swings down and will cut you if you are not careful because it cannot be fully tightened due to the defective nut. If this were a returnable product I would recommend buying it to take the risk of seeing if you get a functional one, but at this price point I am unable to return the item and am very dissatisfied. I should have realized that the item not being restocked and that two being at my store for an extended period of time without being purchased was a bad sign, but I could not find anything similar at Ace Hardware or Lowe's.

This does not have the option of a pruning jaw as the video shows. The saw only is for larger branches and doesn't work on my smaller branches. I returned it.

This does not have the option of a pruning jaw as the short video illiustrates so it had to be returned. As well, the machine bolt does not hold the blade securely. Fiskars is not what they used to be.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Edge on this is extremely sharp! The pruner is very easy to use. Extend the pole to desired length (up to 8ft) and lock the blade in then you are set. This is extremely light weight and should be easy to use for most people. The locking head on the blade never came lose during use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So most of the extendable pruning saws really don't seem to lock into place very decent and you end up getting hurt. I have now used the Fiskars one a few times and when you extend it, it does stay in place. So making it nice to trim those higher up branches. The blade has seemed to stay sharp. Only time will tell how the blade is overtime but I'm sure like any saw the blade will need to be changed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was sent Fiskars Compact Extendable Pruning Saw by the TryIt Sampling Community to use and review. Fiskars never disappoints in the sharpness and quality of all their items, including this one. It is compact and extended out to about 8 feet. However, while I find this particular item saws thicker branches efficiently and quickly, the saw teeth seem to get stuck in smaller, thinner branches. You then need to yank it out of the wood, trying not to cut yourself. I found this frustrating and a bit scary. I do recommend it, just be careful while using.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m so impressed with this pruning saw. It was so easy to use by myself and didn’t need any help. It definitely helped make my bushes look nice and pruned. I love how far the handle extends. It makes it easy to reach those high branches. The saw is very sharp and gets the job done fast.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Such a great thing to have to cut limbs down to trim trees with. To extend it you just click the button on the handle and pull it and make sure it locks in. Cuts great and easy to handle. You can also keep it unexpected so you can limbs that are closer to you.

Husband loves this!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have several acres of land cleared and lots of trees up and down our driveway so we trim limbs and branches pretty often it seems. So, I was so excited to get this since I knew it would really be handy for our home. My husband took it out and used it within a few hours of delivery and was very happy with how it worked. There was a big storm hit our area a couple of nights before and we had some limbs and branches that had fallen and leaning over our driveway, enough that they hit our suburban when we drove by. So he took this out and got to cutting, he said this cut thru some thicker branches with ease! Even easier than another tree trimming saw we have. This one has a very sturdy handle and is easier to control. It's also not so heavy that it is hard to work with so his arms do not get tired too fast. This was exactly what we needed and we will use it for years to come! Definitely worth it if you're like us and need to cut limbs and branches!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Fiskars pruner is working as expected. My neighbor's tree is hanging over in my yard and drops berries. I have to climb a ladder but now this pruner will work perfectly and I would no longer need to pull out the ladder.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is great to have. I have a Rose of Sharon that I used this on and it worked to perfection. It extends to 8 feet which is great. It is made in Middleton WI which is another plus. Remember to wipe the blades and use a little oil to keep this in working order and extend its life.It is not real light but definitely not too heavy for a women to use. Great addition to my growing Fiskars collection!
