Q: My current fitbit watch is connected with my I-phone. When I get a new fitbit watch, do I need to take out the old connection and start a new App to connect with the new phone?

submitted by SL - 29 days ago
  • A: Hey there, SL. If you own an iPhone and want to replace the Fitbit device currently paired to your account, you’ll want to remove your old device from the list of connected Bluetooth devices in your phone's Settings app. After that, follow these next steps: 1. From the Today tab in the Fitbit app on your phone, tap the devices icon. 2. Tap Add more devices. 3. Choose your device and follow the on-screen instructions to continue. Check out more details with this link: https://support.google.com/fitbit/answer/14236818 If you need an extra hand, reach out to us here: https://support.google.com/fitbit/gethelp

  • A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Fitbit Inspire 3 Activity Tracker All of your past data is tied to your Fitbit account (in the cloud) and not the old watch itself, meaning you just need to replace the old device within the app on your current phone. Here are the steps to add your new Fitbit watch to your current iPhone: First perform a Final Sync (Old Watch): -Open the Fitbit app on your iPhone. -Manually sync your old watch one last time by swiping down on the Today tab (the main dashboard screen). This ensures all your latest data is saved to your account before the old watch is removed. Next, you will want to remove the old watch's Bluetooth Connection (Crucial Step): -Go to your iPhone's main Settings app. -Tap Bluetooth. -Find your old Fitbit watch in the list of connected devices. -Tap the small "i" icon next to the watch name. -Tap "Forget This Device." (This prevents your phone from confusing the old watch with the new one). Add the New Watch in the Fitbit App: -Open the Fitbit app. -Tap the devices icon (usually in the top left corner, often a small square or silhouette). -Look for the option that says "Set Up a Device" or "Add more devices." -Select your new Fitbit watch model from the list. Pair and Confirm: -Follow the on-screen instructions. The app will search for your new watch (make sure it's nearby or on the charger). -When prompted, enter the 4-digit code that appears on the screen of your new watch into the Fitbit app. -The app will confirm that you are replacing the old device. Proceed with the setup. Once the setup is complete, your new watch will be linked to your existing Fitbit account, and all your historical data will remain intact! If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Do not recommend

Whoever designed the clasps of attaching the straps on and off the device must have had long nails, a magnifying glass, and small fingers. It is terrible trying to twist the tiny less than 1 mm ball on each strap to disconnect it and then trying to get them back on where you squeeze, push, and connect just right is even more maddening. If you have arthritis, older, don’t have long nails, or need glasses to see, I recommend going with a different manufacturer as it seems all the newer fitbit models have this clasp setup. I have owned Fitbits for several years and I was unable to switch out the straps on this newer model so completely unusable.

Best slim tracker for small wrist

This is my third fitbit. Had garmin in between, but i can't get over how big they are. I started wearing this one on my inner wrist and that has been a gamechanger. It detects my heartrate much better and I can wear it all day and night. Also, it counts the miles ran on the treadmill more precise than Garmin, which is because I do run/walk/run probablly. The only thing I miss from my previous Fitbit Luxe is the magnetic charger. Inspire 3 has a clip type charget which is kind of strange - hopefully the snaps won't break in the coming years. This is the best small tracker if you like slim design and I'm very happy I got this during Black Friday :)

(no review title)

Honest review after using Fitbit for a little over 7 years and wearing this most recent purchase for about a year and a half: Syncing is a hige issue - I make sure that we have a strong connection to WiFi, and bluetooth isn't connected to anything else - however, I have tried to synonmously sync by keeping the app running in the background, location services is always on, and still, syncing is still an issue, so I cannot see sleep, readiness level, text messages, calls, and steps most of the time (90% syncing issues). Counting steps: I know this one is an ambiguous part of the review, so take this one with a grain of salt. On days where I run roughly 3 miles, equates to the same steps as off days, which confuses me. So, unfortunately, the Fitbit cannot accurately determine how many steps are taken, so I never really use the steps as a form of activity with my workouts. Workout detection mode on Fitbit: As soon as my heart rate drops below 110 bpm, this watch will automatically turn off "Zone Minutes", which is extremely annoying. Whenever I take a 30-60 second break between weight sets, Fitbit automatically assumes that I am finished with the workout. While it is in "Zone Minutes" mode, I cannot use any other services on the watch like timers, countdowns, or check bpm. Battery life: Only thing that is good about this watch - the battery life is about a week, and charging takes 1 hour to fully charge. Comfort: Pinches the skin, but they provide two bands; smaller and larger sizes. Honest review: Unfortunately, Fitbit has not changed much in their newer versions of activity trackers, and as someone who has used Fitbit because of the price, you truly get what you pay for. I would honestly save the money and get yourself a Garmin - it is pricey, but I wish I would have done that instead and not paid the $100 for this "activity tracker".

Doesn't synch to phone. Useless.

I've been a fitbit user for years and loved the Inspire, but it's become completely useless. I recently converted my Fitbit account to Google & as soon as I did, my watch stopped syncing with my phone. Now I've got a fitness tracker that doesn't give me any data. Absolutely useless.

Loved it but it died after 3 months

Really liked it and wore it daily, I loved when it would tell me how many calories I burned during workouts and whether I’m in the fat burning zone or not. It helped me dial in exactly how many calories I should consume daily for weightloss goals. But after 3 months the battery went bad. It no longer charged when plugged in and remains depleted. Warranty is still active so they’re sending a replacement but I noticed the replacement is refurbished…. very odd considering.

Works, but issues with charging

Since day one, this fitbit has not been good at charging. I reached out to FitBit help and they just went through the "restart" and "clean the connectors". Which of course, was the first thing I did before I contacted them. They were no help, and recommened I return it to Target. It's unfortunate because when it did have a charge, it worked great.

Loop on band broke as I put watch on the first time

FitBit should be ashamed of the poor quality watch band! The band's loop broke as I was putting the watch on for the first time. I bought the watch today. Needless to say I returned it tonight for a refund. I don't plan to buy another FitBit. TARGET MARKETING STAFF: My displeasure is with FitBit, not Target. I ordered a Cubitt via your website tonight.

Disappointed with how easily the display goes off of auto wake, and how unresponsive it is when I try to wake it. Graph doesn’t match the data, even when displayed next to one another on the app. Otherwise it’s a good tool for tracking activity and time.

Broke within the year

The plastic siding has snapped on the Fitbit itself. It no longer holds the band. This item was expensive for it to break in such a silly way. This break has made the product useless. Received in December only tk have it snap in July.

I bought this to replace my Inspire 2. With it, hard work and a better diet, I lost over 60 lbs. I lost my Inspire 2 at a music fesitval. The strap that secures the band broke, and it fell off. Now when I'm taking a 2 mile walk in the park and check my stats, they're almost nonexistent. The heart rate monitor is often just black. Restarting will help for minutes only. It'll send me news updates I don't want but won't work for it's intended purpose. After mine disappointed me, I went to Fitbit for help and found I wasn't alone. See their reviews. Not good.

Hey there, Thia. Sorry to see you’re having trouble with getting consistent heart-rate on the Inspire 3 — we get this is frustrating. Here’s a couple of tips to resolve this issue: 1. Tighten the band so that it doesn’t slip on your wrist. 2. Heart-rate tracking may not work with certain accessory bands, especially if they’re loose fitting. For best results, use the band that came with your device. 3. Use the Exercise app to record GPS data for your workout. We’d be happy to investigate further if these steps don’t solve your concerns: https://support.google.com/fitbit/gethelp?hl=en

Scratches Easily

I'm very disappointed by the quality of the new Google Fitbits. I've worn this for 13 days and it's already scratched in several places. I wore my Fitbit Luxe for 5 years and it never had a single scratch. Granted it was cheaper, but it was still $80. I feel ripped off, I think I will return it.

DO NOT PURCHASE!

Terrible! Does not track properly. 9,000 today but only shows about 3,000 if you reference by hour in the day. Makes no sense. Does not track the 250 steps per hour properly either. Disappointing!

Hey there, LW. Sorry to learn you’ve had problems with inaccurate steps on the Inspire 3. You may need to check wrist placement and height settings. Accurate height helps estimate stride lengths — consider manually adjusting your stride lengths for better accuracy, especially since leg length varies. Great!

Bought this to help my mom track her daily walks. So far, she’s loving it. The purple color is super cute.

Fitbit

This Fitbit will not allow set up. It just keeps going to download mobile app. Even after doing this it still doesn't work. Returning to Target. First time ever having this issue with Fitbit.

Horrible issues syncing only a few months in

Have issues syncing the device even when fully charged, nearby. I have rebooted devices and dis/reconnected, it still is not syncing unless I try multiple times and leave my phone with the app open while I wait.
