Q: Is this a blackout rod? (meaning, can the curtain be extended around the edge of the rod to block out light?)
A: In theory it is (from the sides), BUT it sticks out a good bit from the wall so you will get a lot of light/heat coming out at the top. Basically it’s only room-darkening if you have window frames that stick out a few inches from the wall.
submitted byConsuela - 6 years agoA: Hi kristi - Thanks for about this French pipe drapery rod. This isn’t a light blocking rod. Thanks for dropping by. – Anita
submitted byAnita - 7 years agoTarget staff supportA: I just bought two of these, and on the box it says "Room Darkening". So I do believe that means the idea is that you can extend your curtain around the edge of the rod to help "darken your room."

Q: What is the diameter of the brackets (specifically center bracket. We have a small distance between top of window and ceiling (2.5") and want to make sure there is room to attach the center bracket.
A: Hi Jenny, I believe you were asking about bracket diameter, yet the answer below was projection (note exact projections of the side and center brackets are 4.27” & 4.2” respectively). The diameters of the center and side brackets are inner 1.06” (27mm) and outer 1.49” (37.9mm) – if you would like to receive a drawing for your reference please request by email at customerservice@gcind.com.tw to request an image for your more detailed information.

Q: Hi, Is it usual to measure the width inside the brackets, instead of from the outer edge of the brackets? These are not 36" when condensed. They're easily 39 from screw to screw, too wide.
A: Hi Brooklyn, Actually, please disregard our last response as after double checking I just found out our rod can achieve 36” min. length. We believe the issue here is how the “length” is interpreted. Our interpretation of the length is just the rods; NOT including the brackets, whereas the end-users may include the bracket length in the overall dimension. The industry usually considers the rod length with just rods, excluding brackets, because that is the actual width that the curtain panels can cover. Hope that helps explain better.

Q: does this have a center (3 rods total) or is it two rods and 3 brackets (one in the middle)?
A: Hi Fatcat: judging from the link sent it looks like you are asking about the size 36”x66”? For 36”-66” rod set, it consists of 2 pieces of rods (1 large rod + 1 smaller rod) with 2 side brackets. The two rods are combined to make a certain length as required. For 66”-120” or 120”-170” rod sets, consists of 3 pieces of rods (2 large rods + 1 smaller rod) with 3 brackets (2 side brackets and 1 center bracket). These form a 3-piece telescopic pole to reach the desired length.
submitted byProduct Expert - 3 years agoBrand expertA: Hello This rod is made of sturdy metal material there is and extension piece in the center that will extend depending on what length you buy. It will include 2 brackets. Hope this helps!

Q: How do you adjust the length of the rod?
A: From Manufacturer: Whether it’s a 2-piece or a 3-piece configuration, you can simply slide the telescopic rods to adjust the length. For the longer rod lengths (66”-120”), on how to form the 3-piece rod, here are the instructions: there should be 3 rods that came with the product, 2 of them with a larger diameter of 25mm and 1 of them in a smaller diameter in 22mm. So you would have to ensure the smaller diameter rod is connected in between the other 2 larger diameter rods in order to form a 3-piece telescopic rod to reach the length from 66” to 120”.
submitted byProduct Expert - 3 years agoBrand expertA: Hello Patty - The thinner rod can be attached at the center to lengthen the rod to desired length. More information can be found in the assembly instructions included with the rod packaging. Thanks. - Marc
