Book Synopsis
Take a trip to the Farmer's Market in this book filled with vibrant and delicious poems! Poetry can be as fresh and delicious as the farmers' market produce it celebrates in this bright collection. Unexpected, ingenious imagery and enticing artwork will inspire young readers and their imaginations. In these vivid poems, blueberries are "flavor-filled fireworks," cucumbers are "a fleet of green submarines in a wicker sea," lettuce tastes like "butter and pepper and salt," but sometimes "I crunch into a leaf the very same flavor as rain." Kid-friendly recipes are included at the end of the book!Review Quotes

Moriuchi's colorful collages pair perfectly with Latham's poems.... This poetry collection will inspire readers to rush to the farmers market to compare Latham's images with their real-life counterparts. Kid-friendly recipes are also included at the end of the book. Latham lets the food items dictate the form and feeling of each poem...."--Booklist "Regardless of the season, readers can get a taste of the fruits and vegetables available at the height of summer in 21 appetizing poems.... Half a dozen recipes cap off a lighthearted celebration of food at peak freshness."--Publishers Weekly "A collection of poetry that features a variety of foods found at the farmers market....
