About this item
Highlights
- In Norse mythology (the story inspiration behind Thor's character) Thor is described as a barrel-chested ugly man. So, the God of War: Ragnarok version of Thor is actually a more accurate depiction of what he looked like in Norse mythology.
- It's his body that supposedly tells us Thor has given up. His body lets you know he's too lazy to be useful now, a shorthand indicator that he's really lost control of his life.
- He's still worthy, and he comes to realize that again. He's also still fat. He dual wields Mjolnir and Stormbreaker, going toe-to-toe against Thanos, while fat.
- After the major time jump in "Endgame," it was revealed that Thor's mental health seriously suffered in the five years since Thanos snapped his fingers. In addition to exhibiting symptoms of depression, alcoholism, and post-traumatic stress disorder, Thor had gained a noticeable amount of weight.
Description
After cutting off Thanos' head in Avengers: Endgame, Thor could not escape his trauma and the belief he failed, leading him to gain considerable weight and become nearly unrecognizable to his fellow Avengers.
While the Avengers do reverse the effects of the Blip and save the universe as they knew it at the end of "Avengers: Endgame," Thor does not magically return to his prime fighting weight — he remains his new size when he sets off into space with the Guardians of the Galaxy and names Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) the king
