The Garmin R10 launch monitor is a versatile and user-friendly device that provides golfers with valuable data to improve their game. It excels in outdoor settings, offering accurate metrics on swing speed, ball speed, and distance. While it may have some limitations indoors, particularly with certain environmental factors, its portability and ease of setup make it a great choice for both beginners and intermediate players looking to enhance their skills. The integration with various apps adds to its functionality, making it a worthwhile investment for golf enthusiasts.

I got this launch monitor for my outdoor driving range...and it was out of the box and ready to go in less than 10 min. It works as advertised and has lots of measurements handy to the avg. golfer. If you need more practice but just have a hard time going to course, this monitor gives you everything you need to "see" how you hit the ball...swing speed, ball flight and club head deviations/angle of attack. Great value for the price...I would recommend.

I had another monitor which did not give me path and face angle data. I've used this for several weeks and watched a number of youtube video's on optimizing it's performance. I use rct balls and found the ball must be teed exactly on line at the recommended distance to get decent results. The garmin software app is OK but one of the videos I watched recommended another app to connect it to that shows all the results on one screen in large enough font to read from 6-8 feet away, along with video of the projected flight of the ball.
Helped Range my Bag

I take this to the range almost every time. It has definitely helped me range my bag. Good Product that is easy to set up. The app is very easy to interface with at the range. It is a little wonky to review data, but does the job. I have not paid for any of the subscriptions or courses, but I imagine it would be great for a sim. I only use it at the range.
Pretty good but has problems

I use it with an indoor simulator and it works well for driver to pitching wedge. If I hit my driver so the ball skims the ground it will only register like 20 yards or so. I know from the hit that the ball would have gone 60-80 yards, so it’s off there. But the really frustrating thing is, around the greens it doesn’t see my gap wedge and up. So I have to use my pitching wedge only.
First time use.

This is the first time I used it at the driving range. Captures lots of data on each shot but the data is highly sensitive to having the unit perfectly aligned with the shot target. Video capture is questionable. Only seems to capture late in the swing when ball contact has already occurred, therefore of no value.
Connectivity issues forced me to switch brands

Constant connection issues forced me to sell my R10. Having a small fan in the same room would cause it to drop connection, sometimes even a crowded room with a lot of cell phone interference would also disrupt the connection. I did appreciate the wide array of options to use (e.g. Awesome Golf, GSPro, the Garmin app itself). I would suggest a wifi option or maybe even a hardwired option for future upgrades. But for now I am switching to the Square launch monitor and am hoping for better results.

Im extremely impressed with this unit, I have been using almost daily the past 2 weeks until our local course opens up and once you find the sweet spot with alignment its really really good.

I have used this now for 3 months, everything works as it should. My only complaint is on short chip shots, getting no reads. Other than that very happy.

Since I have only used it once and was learning how to set up, this is a basic review. I found the physical setup to be very easy. I was at an outside range, yet the unit picked up my shots very well. They were displayed very clearly on my phone screen. I haven't used enough yet to comment on accuracy of distance, etc, but am confident it will be as accurate as a Trackman in a bay hitting off mats that don't quite replicate hitting off turf.

This is a replacement to the first one. This one seems to work a little better. The biggest issue is on short chips, the R10 doesn't seem to pick them up very well; chips around 20 yds. This one still has some issues with missing shots, although I think all launch monitors miss shots now and again no matter what the cost.

I’ve now used it a few times and keep getting surprised how accurate it is. It has a miss read here and there, but all in all it’s great. Very simple to set up.
Problems with Indoor Use

The Garmin R10 is a product that you should only inside. Too many issues in trying to set-up in a basement or garage. Many things can interfere with how the doppler works like metal, concrete, heating system, and other environmental conditions. You have to play around with heights, aligment, distances to the net and R10, and others to make it work. It does work pretty well at the range or outside. The range software that comes with the unit is not very good, so you have to buy Awesome golf or other software to make the metrics work even when hitting indoors or outdoors. I am still using the R10 for outdoor use, but bought another unit for inside use.

I used for the first time Saturday, primarily to learn how to operate it with my phone, etc. In short order, I managed to get it aligned and placed within the detection parameters. After that, it performed as designed. The graphics in the app displayed very clearly and legibly on my phone screen. I didn't have a chance to really determine the accuracy of the stats versus what my eyes, range markers, and feel were telling me. But I sense that all will be good. Happy with the prospects for dialing in my clubs.
