Problematic
I found this unit not as friendly as the s-10. Without the owners manual which is not included I found it difficult to get to "play golf" to start the round. If your in one of the sub programs because you hit the wrong button I had to quit the round and start over again!! The manual was 19 pages double sides to print. The little booklet that was with my S-10 was more convenient and it was in my golf bag all the time

They changed the connection to charge the watch and you are forced to buy something else to convert it to a normal plug to use.

Best purchase I've made in a long time.
There are so many golf watches out there, and I've had an early Garmin for a long time. Started reading up on these, and just sorta guessed and picked this one. I already want a second for my travel golf bag. It's simply a joy. Makes me smile.

Wrist Band Needs Work
Just a couple of things. Overall is works pretty well. The wrist band is rubber and hard to get on. It also tends to go to other sports if you don't hit Play Golf just right and occasionally it gets on wrong hole. I had my last Garmin 10 years, and it was the best.

Excellent GPS golf watch
I bought this S44 to replace my 10 year old S2 which was still working but the battery wouldn't allow for a full round and Garmin no longer supports this model. Garmin was great and gave me a discount for being a customer. I am amazed at the resolution and how easy it is to use. I had concerns that because I am older that I would have a hard time seeing the screen but so far it hasn't been an issue. The battery life is amazing as after playing 18 holes the battery was still at 84%. I wish the season wasn't ending here in Oregon and I am looking forward to the spring to use it again. I also like all of the other non-golf features and sometimes just wear it as a smart watch.

The battery lasts a long time and is lightweight.
Even when I play a round, the battery usage is only about 20%, and when I wear it as a watch on a regular basis, it only uses 2-3% per day on average, which was surprising. When I used other brands, I had to charge it every evening, which was annoying, but with the S44, I've been wearing it for a week now without charging it. What surprised me the most was that my phone fell out of the cart during a round, and the S44 notified me. Of course, other devices vibrate when they fall away, but that's the end of it. With the S44, when I press the confirm button, it shows an arrow indicating which side my phone is, so I was able to easily find my phone that was dropped in the middle of the lawn. The more I use this watch, the more I like it.

SERVES ITS PURPOSE
DOES EVERYTHING i WANTED IN A GOLF WATCH, I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE HAD AN INSTRUCTION MANUAL WITH THE WATCH. INSTEAD I HAD TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME SEARCHING THE WEB FOR THE INFORMATION ON SET UP AND USE.

Nice upgrades!
I've had the Garmin S10, S40, now the S44. All of them still work, great reliability, but the latest features on the 44 were quite enticing and I made the jump. Very happy I did! The screen is big and visible, the battery life is incredible. The newest features are easy to use, precise. I am currently using the trial membership upgrades, still playing around with them, but pretty sure I like them. Wish one didn't have to pay additional for that. Overall this watch is great!

My wife and I each have the Approach S44. We love it! Accurate distances to flag as well as to hazards and locations on the fairway. Great scorekeeping and reminders to note score. Very helpful on keeping track of distance of your last shot.

Not working for me.
I received this watch as a gift. It looked great at first but was impossible for me to use. I am a lefty golfer but write with my right hand. Because I wear my golf glove on my right hand, the touch screen was impossible for me to use.
