So far this heart rate strap has been really consistent and after about 20 uses no smell whatsoever. I just rinse it out. Let it hang dry and it’s happy. So far the heart rate and variability has been consistent across both my Garmin and Apple Watch and its connection has been really solid with my cycling computer, a Garmin 840 solar. If you just need to add heart rate to your fitness conversation this is a good option. If you’re looking for the additional running metrics, this is not the model you want. Something that pairs up with a 970 and similar models for all the writing dynamics is the next step up.

I have had a number of Garmin chest straps, and they have been decent. I really like the new HRM 200. Having a button that can turn it on as soon as you put it on is great. This has reduced the annoyance for me of having to wet the strap, or do all kinds of other things to confirm it is on before I start training. I am liking the bluetooth LE vs ant+ just to allow data to remain private and not broadcast it to the world. It is like 20 years ago when people used to leave their Wifi open without a password.

Chest strap to get more precise data than my watch. Used on a few runs so far. Very comfortable, hardly notice it’s there. Data is accurate and precise, better at picking up quick changes than my watch. Plan to swim with it as well, will update here.

My wife gave it to me as a gift. It works well, but on my long runs, I think for woman will get you some marks. To me always leaves a chafing rash, no matter how much I apply anti-chafing balm. I wish they sale the strap like the HRM-FIT that could be so worth it.

Works well and accurately, no missed data over 5+ hour rides or training runs. Takes a bit to get situated in terms of proper size. Used for over 40 hours of training so far, and has had no drops from any Garmin product, or Suunto product, even in high temperature days with lots of sweat and sun. So far no issues or interactions with sun screen or other materials, cleans fast and easy should last a long time.

Typical Garmin hit or miss performance. I've tried everything to pair it with my Edge 530. It finds the HRM but won't pair. Just spins. I avoided buying an off-brand or cheap HRM so in hopes that it would work. I'm returning it and buy a cheap hem.

I like it so far, but I really wish it came with a simple manual on how to set it up, pare it with my watch, read it, use it and trouble shoot. I am not a tech and I have had to try and find videos to learn how to use it. I am not there yet, so right now I think it is going to be Ok -- but am not close to being there yet. Frustrating!

I like the quality of the HRM200. The strap looks long lasting to me. Will see how it looks in one year. Very easy to adjust and comfortable, the connection with my smartphone or Edge1030 is very fast and stable since I started to use.

Can’t actually remember when I made this purchase or when I put it in service, but when I did the setup with my 1050 cycling computer didn’t take much effort at all. I’m not the average tech savvy guy but this was the easiest to get going out of all my Garmin devices.

It just doesn’t work. I’ve tried pairing it several times. Then remove the device from my phone and watch… and re connect. All it does once it “connects” to my phone is blink red. So I follow instructions to remove battery and pair again. Then once paired again, still flashing red.

It sounds like you may need to switch your HRM 200 to "open connection". I recommend removing the HRM from your paired devices, switching from secure connection to open connection, then pairing the devices again. I love my Garmin watches and bike sensors, but this sensor is confusing. I’ve read the manuals and can’t tell if my heart rate is from the heart rate monitor or watch. A simple icon or display would help know the difference.

Good product. Nice fit. Comfortable. Use at gym and outdoors. I Garmin, really, really, really needs to program so user has visual confirmation on watch and/or Connect that the HRM 200 is what is recording and not the optical sensor. NO ONE wants to be told that “most users don’t need to see this”, or “it is confusing to users and unnecessary” or similar rationalizations for why it is not a feature. Please, please fix this. Otherwise happy with product.
