Does what it is supposed to do
I recently added the Garmin HRM200 to my setup, mainly because my bike computer, watch and taillight with radar are already Garmin. The HRM200 does exactly what it promises: it reliably displays heart rate data. Setup was quick and seamless with my existing Garmin devices. Compared to my previous Polar H10, I haven’t noticed any extra features or integration benefits despite having a full Garmin ecosystem. It’s a solid, no-frills heart rate monitor that works well if you want simplicity and compatibility with Garmin gear.

So far this HRM is working well. It was easy to pair and is being used team sports and other activities where I don't want to wear my watch. It is annoying needing to remember to charge this versus the older models that lasted for months before needing a charge. However the trade off is worth it to use as a standalone device. Time will tell how this lasts but the initial impression is good.

Wanted better real time HR tracking on the Garmin Connect app. My Polar H10 gives more useful information during activity.

Great HR monitor.
Much better accuracy with the HRM 200 vs the wrist based monitor. This is a must have for anyone who is serious about their training. The HRM provides a much higher level of responsiveness than a wrist based monitor, especially when on hills and/or running outside in cold weather. Eye opening for HR training. Super easy to set up and pair with everything. I don’t run without it now.

Mainly for indoor bike training with zwift
It pairs seamlessly with what I need it to pair with. I had to switch channels for zwift to pick it up, but once it paired I was off to the races.

This heartrate monitor offers flexible activity tracking! You can go phone-less or computer-less. It's rechargeable which is a game changer. No more pesky battery changes

'Works' but not perfect
Yes, it detects and broadcasts my HR, and it was easy to pair with my Vivoactive 6 and iphone. But it simply can't keep up with a rapidly increasing HR, such as at the start of a high intensity interval during a HIIT session. Instead, it loses track of the HR and simply broadcasts junk data, often for a couple of minutes before finally recovering. The only way to avoid the issue is to increase my working intensity significantly less rapidly than desired. Disappointing to say the least. I'll continue to use it for now I suppose, but it does not fully satisfy my needs.

Mostly great
I have had this for a few months and it measures my heart rate accurately. It stays connected to my Edge 830 when cycling but occasionally drops the connection with my Feniz 6 Sapphire watch for a few seconds— not sure why. I have tried all of the recommended fixes and none work. Stays connected as long as my watch is in front of my body. And only drops for a few seconds a few times during a 1 1/2 hour workout. I think this is more the watch’s fault but this should not happen. Overall satisfied and would recommend.

Warranty replacement - not the newest
My HRM 100 did not connect, lost connection with the Garmin and my phone. Garmin offered to assist, replace with an HRM 200 - but it was on a ship. The HRM 200 arrives and its the old version with the battery not the newest rechargeable version. Needless to say, the replacement has the same issues as the first. Drops in an out of connecting. Heart rate for 2 minutes, then nothing for 3 minutes. Then HR for 1 minute. And the constant beeping from dropping in and out must disturb the wildlife on my mountain bike ride.

Solid Feedback
Strap is comfortable and holds up well in longer runs. The feedback is really steady compared to the classic wrist monitors.

Set up easy
So far this heart rate strap has been really consistent and after about 20 uses no smell whatsoever. I just rinse it out. Let it hang dry and it’s happy. So far the heart rate and variability has been consistent across both my Garmin and Apple Watch and its connection has been really solid with my cycling computer, a Garmin 840 solar. If you just need to add heart rate to your fitness conversation this is a good option. If you’re looking for the additional running metrics, this is not the model you want. Something that pairs up with a 970 and similar models for all the writing dynamics is the next step up.

A good upgrade from the Dual
I have had a number of Garmin chest straps, and they have been decent. I really like the new HRM 200. Having a button that can turn it on as soon as you put it on is great. This has reduced the annoyance for me of having to wet the strap, or do all kinds of other things to confirm it is on before I start training. I am liking the bluetooth LE vs ant+ just to allow data to remain private and not broadcast it to the world. It is like 20 years ago when people used to leave their Wifi open without a password.
