Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

Tan heavy fleece jacket from cat and jack

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My eight-year-old daughter was obsessed with this tan, fleece jacket from cat and Jack. She paired it with a dress on the way to church and it actually made it look dressy, but I feel like she could pair it with jeans also for a more casual look. She typically wears a size 8 or 10 and the size medium fit her great with plenty of room to grow as well as room to wear thicker clothes underneath. So cute and versatile with the tan color.

Long fleece fluffy jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love this fluffy coat. I love how it almost is like a sweater however it is also like a jacket. Definitely not worthy for Midwestern snow but great for fall or a chilly day. It is not lined inside. It is simply fleece on both ends. However, the buttons are super cute and easily able to do undo. My daughter is 11 and 4’9” tall for reference and this is a size large, her typical size or a size 10, and it fits very well.

Cozy warm jacket but sheds and runs big

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This long fleece jacket is very soft and feels nice and warm. The material does shed a lot though so I am not sure how long it will last. I ordered a size small for my daughter who is usually a size 7, she is tall and thin. The arms were pretty long on her and it looked too big overall. She thought it was cozy and warm though. It closes using buttons and has two front pockets.

Heavyweight fleece coat with large pockets

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the softest and coziest coat for winter time for your little girl! It is so beautiful and really dresses up an outfit. I will be letting my daughter wear this fancy coat for special occasions but not to play in or get dirty. My daughter is five and a half years old and wearing the size Extra Small. It fits her true to size and will fit well for the next year or two as well!

Great fall jacket

Perfect fall jacket for my 9 year old. She’s tall (4’7) and thin so I debated on getting a medium or a large. I didn’t want it to swallow her but also wanted to make sure the arms were long enough. I went with a large and am happy I did. While it’s a bit big on her, there’s plenty of room to grow and the sleeves are long enough. I wish it had a hood but otherwise she loves it and it keeps her warm (but not too warm). Took one star off because it does shed everywhere.

Fleece cat and jack coat review

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I liked the look of this coat online, but it was just way too big on my daughter. She looked completely lost in it. My daughter is 5 years old and on the petite side, she wears a xs /4t/5t usually. Everything from the arms to over all length of this coat wear too big on her. It did seem like a warm decent quality coat for the price, it has a silk like inside lining, my daughter said she wishes it had the fuzzy lining inside as well.
