About the Book
"A former child medium is forced to face her deadly past and the ghosts she left behind in this electrifying debut. Alice Haserot thought she'd escaped the curse. For sixteen years, she's lived far from her family and the ghosts she used to conjure. But her past isn't so easily left behind. When Alice discovers she's pregnant and her estranged sister, Bronwyn, turns up on her doorstep, her carefully built new life begins to unravel. Bronwyn offers an ultimatum: one of her daughters is trying to possess the other, and only Alice has the power to save them. If Alice refuses, Bronwyn will go to their abusive mother and expose her location. Forced to confront the terrors of her childhood, Alice returns home to face the inheritance of her family curse. Tautly paced and gorgeously written, Glass Girls explores the deep, complicated bonds of family and the shadows that follow us, no matter how far we run"--Book Synopsis

Review Quotes
"Part thriller, part ghost story and delightfully twisty all the way through." --People
"Danie's earnest, spellbinding, and emotionally rich debut breathes new life into the classic ghost story. Alice is haunted not just by the specter of a life she's trying to leave behind, but by what that trauma means for herself as an expecting mother. The real horror of Glass Girls is not supernatural--it is the fundamental fear all parents have, that we curse our children by passing our worst parts on to them, that we will become the ghosts that haunt our kids." --Gillian Flynn, Gillian Flynn Books "This story tugs at the heartstrings. A tautly plotted thriller rife with magic and complicated sister dynamics that will make you want to pick up the phone and call your siblings." --Ashley Flowers, #1 New York Times bestselling author of All Good People Here "A visceral, blood-soaked paean to the horrors and limits of love." --Molly Odintz, CrimeReads"An incisive, page-turning story of trauma, family, and the ghosts we can't let go of that held me spellbound to the last page. Glass Girls is as emotionally astute as it is atmospheric and delicious. I loved it." --Kat Dunn, author of Hungerstone "[A] subtly creepy Gothic story . . . Glass Girls is an impressive debut that offers a fresh twist on classic paranormal storytelling." --Grimdark Magazine "Magic is real and Danie Shokoohi has channeled it in this visceral, atmospheric and deeply redemptive novel. Glass Girls brims with love and bravery even in its most wrenching moments, a primer for all of us as we face our own histories. The best art shakes you awake, and this book absolutely will." --Julia Fine, author of Maddalena in the Dark and The Upstairs House "[N]ew talents are rising in the horror world all the time, and Danie Shokoohi's Glass Girls feels like the perfect summer read to get to know a new voice in the genre." --Paste
"Riveting and tender, this electrifying debut is a deeply human ghost story about familial trauma, survivorship, and the things that haunt us. Glass Girls will leave readers delightfully shattered." --Kathryn Harlan, author of Fruiting Bodies, finalist for the 2023 PEN/ Faulkner Award for Fiction
