Good and Plenty licorice candy has been a nostalgic favorite for many, but recent changes to its recipe and shape have left some guests disappointed. While the candy retains its classic licorice flavor, the new oval shape and increased sugar coating have altered the experience for long-time fans. Despite mixed feelings, many still enjoy the unique taste and texture, making it a beloved treat for both new and returning guests.

Pink, Pink, Pink
I opened my good and plenty box and was shocked. 99% of the box were PINK. Maybe 4 white candies. Super disappointed. How does this happen?

GOOD AND PLENTY, NOT good and not plenty
I have been eating these for over 40 years and wow so disappointed in the new smaller shape-about half the original size, harder shell, inedible interior (licorice? or what!) They taste STALE. I can't chew or swallow whatever that is that remains now. GO BACK to the old formula or I quit.

No longer a favorite!
Good & Plenty licorice candy used to be my husband's favorite candy but since they changed the recipe, he doesn't like them at all! Says they taste like licorice runts and are too sugary. We will not be buying these anymore unless they change them back to the original. Hershey, you are disappointing lots of life-long fans.

I have to be careful with these
These are my go-to sweet and I think I single handedly keep my local stores constantly stocking them.

They are not overly sweet, but they don't go unnoticed either.
The flavor is strong, herbal, and slightly bitter, not very sweet. They aren't cloying, but they are persistent on the palate, leaving that typical black licorice taste for quite a while.

Boxes are all stale nowadays
I love good and plenty candy but for the past 6 months I have failed to find a fresh box. The candy is as hard as a rock and the licorice, you can’t even chew much less swallow. I’ve purchased them from about 5 different places and they’re all bad (expiration date is fine).I’ve fortunately gotten my money back on all purchases. The candy in the bags are all good. They are soft like they should be.

Box does not match the contents
I just discovered the re-design of this candy by surprise. The box still shows the long slender candy, but inside I found egg-shaped candy that tastes like a licorice Skittle, not the same flavor or texture. Buyer beware!

Tastes moldy
Bought a box of Good and Plenty and was very disappointed. I've enjoyed these for years. The candy has the taste of mold!

Good and Plenty is Plenty BAD now!
Just opened a box to enjoy and was disappointed in the flavor. I googled it and found out that Hershey changed the recipe to improve the taste and quality. It is terrible and I will no longer be buying them or any Hershey brand if I can help it. What a bummer! This is no longer the good old licorice candy we all enjoy. Corporate greed has taken over . . . again!

Bad and icky
I bought some in bulk, from a reliable source. Both my husband and I found the taste terrible - we’ve been eating Good and Plenties for nearly 60 years! I thought the problem might have been our source (also noted the change in size of each candy - less elongated), but after reading the reviews here, I see the problem is with the manufacturer. It’s sad when even candy companies bow to money over quality. Truly, the argument of “consistency” over the entire product spectrum does not hold water or fool anyone. Sigh…must cross this favorite of the sweet tooth list.

Terrible - Just Bad and Plenty now.
No longer good. Tastes terrible. When are you going to learn and leave well enough alone. Enjoy that stockpile of good a plenty no one is going buy.

Recipe had most definitely changed
This use to be a favorite of mine. Not anymore!! The recipe changes have made this once favorite a miss. The size the taste the consistency is all bad with a very prominent artificial flavor. I will never buy this candy again. What a disappointment

What did you do to Good & Plenty!!!!
These taste horrible now. These are disgusting now. Who ever approved the new changes probably liked the hamburgers and pizza served in school lunches and still still eats SpaghettiO's. Please get rid of your taste tester and hire a culinary professional not a chemist! 🤮

Will it be a Good and plenty gamble?
The shape is fine but the main issue I have is with the coating ratio as it has altered the flavor( being more sweet) and changed the mouth feel. Enthusiasts may agree that this is a gamble on the future of this beloved confection.

BRING BACK THE OLD!
I haven't had Good & Plenty's in quite awhile. How disappointing! What happened to the original shape of the candy--as displayed on the box!? As someone else described, it's pebbles. Also, predominantly pink, which I personally enjoy the white. Please change it back to the original Good & Plenty!!!

Disappointed by an old favorite
Good & Plenty has been a lifelong favorite of my siblings and I for over 60 years. I was happy to receive 3 6oz boxes for my birthday from my brother in August. Alas when I tried to eat some they are extremely hard and inedible. Mfg code was 17A17X2 BB O7 2025 17:06.

Dishonest shrinkflation.
What happened to the oblong shape? Now they are little pebbles. More cheap sugar coating, less licorice.

Ruined with new shape and formula! :-(
Good & Plenty has been one of my favorite candies for decades. Too much shell, not enough licorice and too small (wrong shape) now. Please please please go back to the “classic” formula.
