  • A: Nest Doorbell (battery) is designed with a built-in rechargeable battery (not replaceable), and it only takes around 4-5 hours to fully charge the Nest Doorbell (battery). The battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select and you can extend the battery life of your doorbell by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios. Busy: About 1 month battery life (About 25 - 30 recorded events per day) Typical: About 2.5 months battery life (About 13 - 16 recorded events per day) Quiet: About 6 months battery life (about 2 - 5 recorded events per day)

I purchased this on sale in store for an unbelievable price and I'm glad I got it. We needed something to deter solicitation and keep an eye on packages. The video quality is really clear and the audio is great. I'm using a third party door mount and the battery life is about 2 weeks. It fully charges in about 3 hours. I like that I can set it to recognize all activity or just people, animals, and packages. Animals in particular since we have skunks and I don't want to be surprised. Overall I'm please. I do wish it came with a separate chime and was more ios compatible but still, 4 stars easy.

This device is NOT user friendly. It goes off all the time! We live on a busy walker friendly street, so I get notifications every few minutes. There is a setting in the app that is supposed to solve this problem but it doesn’t work. It still won’t connect to my husband’s iPad. Another gripe is that the notification for someone walking up to my door is the same sound as someone ringing the doorbell. I basically ignore the sound because it goes off so much. I am going to see if I can trouble shoot any of this, but pretty sure I’m gonna return this.

Absolute Junk - Didn't make it 18 months

Tracy - 6 months ago
This doorbell is absolute junk. I would not recommend any future Google products after using this. The battery only made it 18 months before developing a fatal defect where the doorbell would no longer charge or power on. Google support is useless since the item is outside the 1-year warranty period and this developed the fault 18 months in. The only solution provided was "buy another one". Why would I do that? It can't even make it 2 years. Do not waste your time here. Look elsewhere for something better, cheaper, and for a company that will actually back their products.

Product stopped working with no warning after 18 months. My nest camera lasted years and I'll only buy that moving forward.
1 reply from Nest Support team - 6 months ago
Hi there, Cait. Thanks for leaving feedback about the Nest Doorbell (battery), and we’re sorry to hear it stopped working. There are several factors that may cause the doorbell to stop working. We recommend trying the simple steps below that can help: - Check the LED status light of the Nest doorbell. The battery might be dead or not receiving enough power. - If your doorbell is connected to power, check if the wires are securely and properly connected. - Test for power and connect the Nest doorbell with an indoor adapter and a mini USB or a type-C USB cable. - Perform a factory reset following the steps in “Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell” article at the Google Nest Help Center. If further assistance is required, please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime by visiting the Google Nest Help Page.

We love this doorbell so much! We changed the chime to a holiday sound for Christmas and our neighbors thought it was fun. I’m giving 4 stars because the battery does not stay charged for long unless we had our settings wrong. Our neighbor actually helped us wire it to our house power so we don’t have to charge it anymore and it’s perfect for what we needed

Hey Sarah Williams, thanks for giving us feedback and a good rating, and we’re glad to hear you love the Nest Doorbell (battery). We also appreciate you for letting us know of your concern with the battery life, and that you and your neighbor were able to wire it for continuous power. We hope you’re making the most out of its features, and if ever you encounter any challenges with using the doorbell effectively, let us know by visiting us at the Google Nest Nest page and we’d be happy to help you.

GO WITH A BETTER DOORBELL

Sheka - 1 year ago
I've had this doorbell for exactly 1 year. The picture is clear, but the videos can't be viewed a few hours after it's captured. Most importantly, there is NO chime. I have sought help to connect it to my nest mini, but nothing. It won't even chime on my phone. This was a costly lesson, I just went out and purchased the RING doorbell as a replacement to not only have a chime but so that my captured videos won't disappear after 2 hours.
1 reply from Nest Support team - 1 year ago
Hello Sheka, we truly appreciate your feedback on Nest Doorbell (battery), and it’s unfortunate to hear it didn’t meet your expectations. Although Nest doorbells have sounds that help you know what’s happening (for example, when it restarts), a chime is not included, But when a visitor presses your Nest Doorbell (battery), you can hear an audible alert if you have compatible smart speakers or displays. You can connect a Google speaker or display and set up visitor announcements if you want to get notified when someone rings your doorbell when you’re home. Also, alerts for Google Nest cameras are a bit more complex than for other Nest products since you can choose motion and sound alert settings, and change how and when you’ll get them. However, the sound that you’ll hear from your phone depends on the phone’s notification settings. For more details, visit the Gogole Nest Help center We understand that you have replaced your doorbell with a different one. But if you find yourself wanting to rey the Nest doorbell again in the future, we’d be more than happy to provide you with services and assistance for any support concerns you may have, at the Google Nest Help page.

Poor battery and only 3hrs viewing without the never-ending subscription

Sherri - 1 year ago, Verified purchaser
The battery lasts a shorter time than expected, 2-3 months in warm weather, 1-2 months in the winter, and Google requiring a subscription to see more than 3hrs of video seems manipulative and shrewd.
1 reply from Nest Support team - 1 year ago
Hi there Sherri, thanks for reaching out. We're sorry for any disappointment you may be having with the battery life and the Nest Aware subscription for your Nest Doorbell (Battery). For Nest Doorbell (Battery), battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios: Busy: About 1 month battery life (About 25 - 30 recorded events per day) Typical: About 2.5 months battery life (About 13 - 16 recorded events per day) Quiet: About 6 months battery life (about 2 - 5 recorded events per day) We recommend checking the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Doorbell (Battery). If the short battery life isn´t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your device and understand what may be causing it. Also, we recommend getting the Nest Aware subscription, as it provides more value for your money with features that include 30 days of Video History, 24/7 continuous recording, access to clips and time lapses and even customizing your own activity zones. You won't ever have to worry about missing any events as these videos and clips are all saved onto the Cloud. All these features can be viewed and controlled at the tip of your fingertip using the Google Home App. You may contact our support team for further assistance by visiting the Google Nest support page.

The wireless doorbell does not have a chime feature. I do not know if anyone is at the door, due to it being just a little pop up on my phone. I get 30 of those a day.
1 reply from Nest Support team - 1 year ago
Hi there, thanks for sharing your feedback and concerns about the Nest Doorbell (battery). A chime is not included with a purchase of Nest doorbells, but when a visitor presses your Nest Doorbell (battery), you can hear an audible alert if you have compatible smart speakers or displays, like Nest Audio or Nest Hub. You can connect a Google speaker or display and set up visitor announcements if you want to get notified when someone rings your doorbell when you’re home. You'll only get visitor announcements on your speakers and displays if they are set up in the same home as your doorbell in the Home app. Or if you choose the optional hard-wired installation, it will work with an existing doorbell chime if you have one. If you need help around the features and functionality of the Nest doorbell, please feel free to contact us at the Google Nest Help page.

Biggest waste of money. App is Google Home Not NEST, like my other NEST cameras !! Unit is plugged in at all times with power supply purchased FROM GOOGLE. Unbelievable a company like google can’t build a functioning wireless doorbell, it seems like every other company can & has.
