Bought a Hero 7 Black. It got very hot just charging the battery, and then would shut down when recording. Target replaced it. The new is better, but still has cannot record very long without overheating. I have yet to get the HDMI out to work, which is a big problem because I bought it for streaming.
Good little camera bought it for better battery life. I’ve used a vivitar 4k action camera for my trail rides battery lasted about 50 minutes and additional batteries aren’t in stock when I’m shopping. In 4k and 2.7k it seems I get about 45 minutes out of the batteries but they’re easier to purchase. Only records 10 minute clips trying to find a way Around that. I’m impressed with the image quality but not as good as my mavic 2 pro. Used it for 30 minutes recording in 2.7k device was very hot. Seen reviews of some people’s batteries lasting 4 hours seen videos of them lasting 2 hours can’t get mine to last more than 45 minutes haha. Bought 2 additional batteries same thing. I bought the hero 7 over the 8 because the 8 has breakable parts built in and no replacement lens covers. I strap these things to my quad and ride trails so they may take a beating lol.
I feel it's a bit expensive for what it is and GoPro's customer service is terrible. I do really like the built in stabilization of this version. I bought the silver, but returned it to upgrade to the black just for this feature. It's nice not to have to have a separate gimbal for it. It does not always connect easily to my phone to download/review photos/videos. Battery lasts about 1 hour recording video. I was recording a long video and when I went to review, it had been recorded as separate videos, each about 8 minutes 30seconds long. The front LCD screen get blurry/doesn't work well, more noticeable with changes in temperature. I purchase on a good promo, so I would buy it again at that price, but probably wouldn't at full price.
This is the first GoPro, I've owned. I am a beginner and watched Youtube videos on the set up and operation of the camera. I took it to Maui and had a great time capturing our adventure. I mounted it on a helmet during an off road adventure and took it underwater, while snorkeling. It worked fine and the footage was great. I film in 1080/60. My computer can't play back 4k. While filming underwater, a thumb screw on my extended handle backed off and fell into Maui's ocean. I called GoPro customer support and even though it was my mistake, they sent me replacement thumb screws for free.
Recently used my GoPro Hero 7 Black on a recent cruise and the video and pictures are amazing. Can't believe the quality of 4K 60 fps and the image stabilization is pretty spectacular. Highly recommend.
