I bought this about 3 years ago and have used it probably 6 times, never super heavy use as I only have 1 battery anyways. After sitting idle for around a year, when I went to use it, it just did not work. No response at all. I fiddled with it for a while and it randomly started to work. 6 days later nothing again no matter how much fiddling. It really doesn't seem like it is built to last. Seems like it should be extremely simple electronics, but something has given up. Fairly disappointing.

Hello Tyrion. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your tool. Often this indicates that the battery is not secure or that there may be an internal error preventing the unit from starting. When installing the battery please be sure to give it a firm push into place; a loose connection could be the culprit! If you have tried these suggestions and are still experiencing an issue, we urge you to start a Live chat on www.greenworkstools.com or call1-888-909-7657 for further assistance. We ask that you have access to your polesaw, battery, and charger at the beginning of your call and please be prepared to complete troubleshooting with our team.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a long term gas chain saw user, I was unsure about what to expect with this battery operated model. It had enough power to easily cut branches of 6" diameter.

Disappointed-Chain Doesn’t Stay On

The pole saw is completely useless because the chain does not stay on. Such a waste of money.

Hello AngieArch, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you have experienced an issue with the chain staying on the bar. Chainsaw chains can come off due to multiple reasons such as worn-down bars, worn-down sprockets, and wrongly set chain tension. Please check the chain tension and condition of all parts prior to using. If anything is worn or damaged, replace parts before using again. Replace the bar if: • the groove is not fit with the height of the drive links (which must never touch the bottom). • the inside of the guide bar is worn and make the chain lean to one side. Chain Tension: Chains should be tensioned before use. Check intermittently throughout each chore to make sure the chain is kept properly tensioned. A correctly tensioned chain should only pull away from the bar enough to fit a dime (10c) between the teeth and the bar. *Do not tension a chain after you have finished using the tool. The hot metal expands. If the chain is tension when hot, then allow to cool. The contracting metal could potentially damage the chain, the bar and even the unit Wait until the next day for use (or at least until cooled) before tensioning. Should you have any further questions or warranty needs, please feel speak to Greenworks Customer Care at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS).

This is a great tool. Powerful and effective. Tightening the chain is easy, but would be nice if it had an auto tensioning system. Fast cutting.
Does the job well!

I got this pole saw about a month ago to clean up some low-hanging branches on some trees in the backyard. It definitely exceeded expectations! It cut through maybe 2-3" branches like a hot knife through butter! I thought it may not last very long, but I cut down branches for probably a half hour straight or so, and the charge was still full. My only complaint is I got a little too excited because I was having fun, then I had a crap-ton of branches to clean up haha!

I bought this product about two weeks ago to perform general maintenance around the house, but put it to the test last week. Went down to help friends and family in Louisiana after Hurricane IDA to help with clean up. It is light weight, like that you can take sections apart for transport, and although I didn’t time battery or count number of counts I felt it held up. Even my older mother was able to use with ease.
Perfect for my needs.

Because we have been so pleased with our Greenworks 18" 80V chain saw, I wanted to purchase one of your pole saws. The 24V cordless 8" looked like it would be my best option. After it arrived today, I put it together without the center extension section to cut a small tree along a fence line. It worked perfectly. I'm now all set to reach branches and small trees.

The 24V 8" pole saw has plenty of power, is lightweight, and cuts well. The only flaw is the oil leaks from the reservoir when in storage

We building our 24v Greenworks tool set and this is an essential for spring tree trimming. We have used this on several smaller hard-to-reach limbs and it has worked well. The battery life is good as well. It would be nice if they included a little bottle of chain oil to get you started.
