I couldn’t find them again so I got these and the quality plummeted. Rigid waistband, paper tag, not true to size. Had to return them

There are a lot of imitation "compression" pants out there with poor quality fabric (we've bought more than one of them trying to save a couple bucks), but these are the real deal. They fit really well for athletes, and have nice ventilation patches behind the knees and under the crotch that makes a big difference when working out hard.
Would not buy again.

A couple of years ago I purchased a pair of Russel Athletics underwear and they were the BEST shorts I have ever seen. I have been trying to find them again but to no avail. I thought these were the new replacements but they weren't. These are very good and about the best that I can find so far. However, the others were black with a red band (not worried about the color) but they had a front flap which these do not (very disappointing). Also, I hate when the legs ride up and the old ones were snug around the thighs and never rode up. These are good and stay in place most of the time but not always. I will continue on my quest to find the perfect pair of shorts.
