Q: what bags fit this can? The usual 13 gallon bags that I use don't fit.
A: If someone is struggling to use a typical 13 gallon trash bag, there is a good chance that they are not putting it in correctly. There are two notches on the top rim of the trashcan close to hinge. Hitch the liner to one notch. Then fold it over the rim of the can. Lastly hitch the liner to the other notch. It will be held tight and fits perfectly. Also, since the trashcan has the narrow sides on the front and back you will want the seems of the trash bag facing the front and back of the can. The first time I put the liner in, I did not see the notches for a minute. If you tried to fit the bag over the entire rim of the can or turned it 90 degrees orienting the seams toward the sides, it would not fit. The can is well designed and the liner fits snuggly when you use the notches. Great design for a can at this price!
submitted bySara - 5 years agoA: As one answer said, the 13 gallon tall kitchen bags fit perfect. You MUST use the two notches at the back, then it will fit over the front lip. This keeps it from getting stuck in the hinge of the lid. Orient the bag correctly, use the notches at the back, and a 13 gallon tall kitchen bag fits just perfect.

Q: Why doesn't the lid open each time I stop on the pedal? Sometimes I have to stomp on it 3 times to get it to open.

Q: Is there a way for the lid to stay open when it's opened, or will it always fall closed without the pedal being pushed?
A: Hello - Great question. The lid on this Hefty trash can opens when the pedal is pushed and closes upon removal of pressure on the pedal. The lid was not designed to stay open. Sorry for any inconvenience. Have a great day!
