I usually buy two jars of the Mecium at a time. I have a little with my scrambled eggs every morning. A few months ago, it became very very watery. However, the chunks were still good, so I kept buying. The last four jars I have purchased have had no chunks at all. Very smooth and puréed for a consistency. Not good at all.

This has been my favorite brand of salsa for many years, but the last 2 jars I bought are very watery. Not sure what happened, did the recipe change? I thought the 1st watery jar was just a fluke but now the second jar I bought at a different location was also watery. Not a fan of this change!

My wife and I have been buying this salsa for years. And it has always been the best. Lately the salsa we get is half or more water, it's terrible. I don't know if they think they're gonna save money. But they're not, they're going to lose a bunch of customers.

Being on the road a lot, we have bought many different salsas. I see a different brand, look up the reviews and pick the one with good reviews. I was so wrong this time. I don't know what standard they use to determine this is a medium salsa. I would call it mild at best. While it's chunky, it's devoid of any real taste. Lastly, it is so watery that I'm convinced they add the extra water to make more money. They use water to increase the volume so they can charge the same as real salsa. When I looked up the company, it's a Mexican company working with Hormel food in the US. Mexican? They should be ashamed of themselves for calling this watery, bland crap as edible. I'd love to hear what other people who like salsa think about this brand.... or do you suppress these kind of honest reviews
I would never buy again

I have been buying Herdez mild camera salsa for several years and have never had a bad batch. Unless you make your own salsa or buy it fresh this is still the best salsa in a jar.
They changed the recipe, now it is too salty and too spicey

My family used to buy 3 - 5 jars at a time, and have for years. But this week, we noticed it is way saltier and way too spicier. The original formula was perfect, now it tastes like every other bad salsa out there. Guess we have to find a new salsa…such a shame they messed with perfect and lost many customers.

Been buying Salsa Casera Medium for several years and was always very pleased with the flavor and consiistency. However this last jar which I just opened today had to have been half water. Couldn't eat it on chips as it was so watery it just drained off the chip. Actually wound up DRINKING it out of the bowl I had poured it into with a chip. Very disappointed. I think I'm going to have to find a different brand as I don't like watery salsa.

I have purchased this red Salsa Casera in tin cans in Mexico since early 1960's !! Now living in Florid, in the past three months, only the Verde sauce is available. Not in Win Dixie, Publix or any Hispanic grocery store. What's up with that?
Dont buy

I looked forward to buying this to use with my Mexican Chicken recipe. I had to really dig to the bottom of the jar just to get any tomatoes, onions, etc. . . . more than half the jar was water. As far as a medium salsa this had no heat and no flavor whatsoever. A big disappointment.
I purchased the set with salsa, spice mix and tortilla's

The spice mix was lovely very tasty, the tortillas were soft once microwaved unfortunately the salsa let the whole experience down, it was watery and tasteless - I would definitely buy the spice mix again but NOT the salsa - it made the whole meal very expensive to have an item that couldn't be used and spoilt the rest of the meal!
I'm so sorry.

This literally had no flavor to me. I don't understand why it just tasted like tomatoes. There was no spice, there was no flavor. I ate it, but I will never buy it again. I thought it would be much better.

This is nowhere near as good as before. I've been buying Herdez salsa for years and recently I've noticed a change to a thicker, spicier and much more processed taste. The old recipe had a nice fresh *pop* to it that was as close to the fresh taste of homemade salsa you could buy at the store. Not any more. It's still decent but I doubt I'll continue buying it.

Herdez Salsa Casera it's a great addition to any Mexico flavored inspired meal! Pour it right from the bottle or can for a quick chip dip. Substitute half of the water when cooking rice for a delicious, lightly flavored, rice. Take a defatted pork shoulder, put it in the crock-pot, and add Salsa Casera, and broth or water!
