Kids’ measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

Dont like it

Very loose on shoulder part. I dont like it. It does not hold any shape.size is very weird shoulder part is big and on tummy it has gap in buttons even though my son is slimmer side.

Cute left open

My 4 year old is skinny like 38% - for his little body his stomach sticks out more and if this cardigan was buttoned it was pulling there. We decided to leave it open which looked great. This sweater was Adorable!

Love this sweater

This sweater is so cute - I didn’t realize it had little elbow pads, which is a nice detail.

Cute, but cheap

This sweater LOOKS adorable, but does not last. I bought this for my son, who wore it maybe 7 times in December. (We live in Miami, so not many chilly school days.). I washed it in January, according to the instructions, and it fell apart in the wash. I guess you get what you pay for.

Like, with reservations

I ordered this because the elbow patches were cute. However, in person, the elbow patches are the worst part of this, because they feel like the cheapest part. They're just pieces of fabric that were cut out and then topstitched onto the sweater, with no nice seam finish or anything. I guess they thought they could get away with it because the elbow patch fabric wouldn't fray (?), but it does detract from both the look and the feel of it. For an item whose entire purpose is to look polished (not just a sweater, but a cardigan; and not just any cardigan, but one with elbow patches and contrasting trim along the button placket), this feels like they took a shortcut. Plus, for an item meant for a child, who likely isn't going to be gentle, it would have been nice to have it more securely attached.
