Separate a 2-inch section of hair, gently place hair between the crimping plates, and clamp the iron down firmly on the hair, work from the scalp to the ends of your hair. Leave the iron in fine hair for 5 to 8 seconds and for 10 to 15 seconds in thick hair. Carefully slide the iron along the isolated section, making sure to follow the wave in the hair. The ends will probably require less heat than the hair which grows closer to the scalp.Â¥ For best results, hold the end of the hair while crimping the hair section.
