We purchased two of these for two dining room pictures on either side of our china cabinet. We had outlets behind the pictures controlled by a wall switch, and, after being sure to set the lamp switch to the highest output setting, cut the 8' cord on this down to maybe 2'. Very pleased with the result. We could have used the "direct attach" lights, but they were 3 times as expensive so chose these and made them work.

The unit had apparently been returned-it was loose in the packaging and had a couple of scratches on it, but they're not apparent from a distance.

Great lamp. It has a high and low setting with the integrated switching the cord. The cord is white which blends into my wall. The mounting hardware came with pieces that attach it to a standard aluminum frame along with other screws and a bracket for wood. I recommend this lamp for the price and quality.
