Review Quotes
Adams' BBC experience is used wisely - she tells us, for example, about the absurdity of a 'high potential' employee stuck in the same role for 27 years - but this isn't a memoir and little dirt is dished. Instead, it's an opinionated, relatable and occasionally inspired book that will divide its audience (some, certainly, will feel it is simplistic, though others will cherish that same quality), and marks the emergence of a welcome voice of reason."-- "People Management"
Great book challenging the norms of HR. Everything the author says resonates with evolved HRs. We should question what we do and see how we can truly help businesses as a strategic partner. This book delivers the insights how to do that.-- "NetGalley"
Great read and I loved that at the end of each chapter Lucy talks about how to apply the concepts discussed.-- "Amazon"
This book is a must read for those HR leaders that want more out of their careers and don't want to sit back and accept indifference. Nothing is usual anymore, therefore we need to take action to prove our worth. We need to be the go-to experts for everything involving human beings in an organization. So, for those that are serious this book is your first step towards the future in HR.-- "HR Director"
This book is fantastic! Really opens your mind to alternative routes and possibilities to processes and questions that those in the HR profession may feel are 'set in stone' and unchanging. This is the first book I've binge read in about 15/20 years! Just could not put it down!-- "Amazon"
This is by far the best book I've read in years, everything Lucy talks about is directly related to my own thoughts and observations I've seen with my own eyes in all the places I've work. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is genuinely interested in helping understand and address one of the most important and influencial aspects of any business or organisation that will greatly help achieve what it has set out to do...the people working in it. I will definitely be looking into Lucy's further work following this book.-- "Amazon"
