My parents bought this book for me 33 years ago when my childhood dog passed away. I read this so many times growing up and it comforted me over the loss of my dog and it helped me deal with my anxiety about saying goodbye to our other pets one day. I still have my original copy of this book and it still brings back memories of comfort and love. It is a wonderful book for a child who loves their dog or cat, especially one who may be facing the loss of their pet soon or who has had to say goodbye to a pet. It is a very special book.
