About the Book
A lively, illustrated introduction to the essential work of school nurses as community helpers and health heroesBook Synopsis
Of all the staff members at a school, there's one that nearly every child sees at one time or another: the school nurse. Whether it's caring for sick kids or giving students medication throughout the day, school nurses play an important role in the health of their communities. What other kinds of work does a school nurse do? What character traits are essential for them to have? Like all health heroes, they make sure the needs of the patient come first. Meet a real school nurse, and find out how these health heroes save the day, every day! This title was created in collaboration with Tara Bubar, RN, a licensed school nurse. Meets (C3) Framework for Social Studies standards: College, Career, and Civic Life. D2.Civ.2.K-2. Explain how all people, not just official leaders, play important roles in a community.
