Q: How long can an unopened and uncooked package of Impossible Plant-Based Burger Ground be left unrefrigerated?

submitted by Holiday Hopeful - 1 year ago
  • A: Thanks for your question, Holiday! Our product should always be kept at a refrigerated temperature. When purchased thawed, your package of Impossible Burger should have a sticker with a “best by” date. For best freshness, you should prepare and eat the entirety of the package before this date. When frozen, Impossible Burger should be consumed within 10 days of thawing and always prior to the "use by" date printed on the packaging.

Q: does the amount shrink when cooked?

submitted by peggi - 2 years ago
  • A: You’ll be pleasantly surprised that Impossible shrinks less than conventional ground beef. If you’re used to making burgers, tacos, or spaghetti and needing to drain moisture or fat out of the pan, you’ll quickly notice that it's not necessary—the juiciness stays in until you take your first bite. This means that you should be able to use just one 12oz. (¾ pound) package in any recipe that calls for 16oz. (1lb) ground beef and get approximately the same yield you’re used to.

submitted by Alice - 2 years ago

We always recommend that anyone with questions about whether the Impossible Burger is appropriate for them consult with a medical professional who can take their full personal health history into account.

Q: what are the other ingredients and what does "plant based" mean?

submitted by jack - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Jack! Some of our key ingredients are soy protein, coconut and sunflower oils, and heme, the key to meaty flavor. Plant-based means no animal-derived ingredients. You can view our ingredient list in the Label Info section of the product listing.

I have some kind of word salad right now: Impossible and passable, this virtue signal is a go go. Save yourselves, save the cows, eat less animal. No comparatives, no superlatives, hear it thusly - it browns and keeps, it does not seep, get ground deep, don't be a sheep. Give it a whiff side by side with decaying bovine, you'll smell what I mean right away.

Taste was okay but the meat itself can only be used as ground. I tried to make burgers and they all fell apart I prefer beyond meat as I can actually shape it and make it more bersitle

The texture is similar to ground turkey with it being a little thinner than beef. Overall this was surprisingly good! I used it to cook red chili with pinto beans. It cooks up well, I would say to watch out for burning. It absorbed the flavor of the onions, garlic and red chili very well. My husband also enjoyed and said he would happily eat it again. I would highly recommend

Best substitute I've found! I tried the Beyond burger patties and was disgusted by the smell, this is a much better option. Haven't tried it as a burger, but I used it as ground meat for spaghetti, just seasoned and fried it and it was perfect! This would is perfect for a non-vegetarian to use instead of ground beef (in stuff like chilli where you won't notice the difference) in order to either eat let meat for health reasons or transition to vegetarianism

Beef or Not Beef...that is the question!

I was pleasantly surprised. I was for sure once I seasoned as I do with beef it would still taste different, but it didn’t. I make meat and potato tacos and tasted just as delicious. Considering much of America’s beef is imported; this will be a welcomed transition.

This product tastes just like ground beef. Whether you’re hoping to cut down on your consumption of animal products or just wanting to try something new, I believe this is currently the best ground beef substitute on the market.

I eat red meat. I love a good ribeye and a greasy cheeseburger made with meat from a cow. That being said, I just made spaghetti with this Impossible Plant Based Ground Beef and could not distinguish any difference between this and when I made spaghetti with ground beef from a cow. Neither could my kid! I literally have no reason to make spaghetti with cow meat again! I’m looking forward to making chili, tacos, nachos and cheeseburgers! This product is a game changer!

Y'all. Y'ALL. I can't believe how good this was. Bought on a whim - trying to be healthier - and oh my stars. It tastes just like real beef. The texture might even be better. I thought my fam would notice, but they didn't - even the super picky eaters. Should I tell them? Nah! Y'all can keep a secret, right?

This is great. I thought it would be horrible. My kids enjoy it too. We made tacos with it. I haven’t tried it any other way yet. The consistency is a bit more mushy than traditional ground beef so I am not sure yet how it would go over in other dishes. The flavor is good though.

As a recent vegetarian, I was looking for "substitute meat" products that had the texture and taste of beef. But, it wasn't until I tried the Impossible Burgers that I was sold. This is a very delicious product and I am hooked!!
