Q: How long can an unopened and uncooked package of Impossible Plant-Based Burger Ground be left unrefrigerated?

submitted by Holiday Hopeful - 2 years ago
  • A: Thanks for your question, Holiday! Our product should always be kept at a refrigerated temperature. When purchased thawed, your package of Impossible Burger should have a sticker with a “best by” date. For best freshness, you should prepare and eat the entirety of the package before this date. When frozen, Impossible Burger should be consumed within 10 days of thawing and always prior to the "use by" date printed on the packaging.

Q: does the amount shrink when cooked?

submitted by peggi - 3 years ago
  • A: You’ll be pleasantly surprised that Impossible shrinks less than conventional ground beef. If you’re used to making burgers, tacos, or spaghetti and needing to drain moisture or fat out of the pan, you’ll quickly notice that it's not necessary—the juiciness stays in until you take your first bite. This means that you should be able to use just one 12oz. (¾ pound) package in any recipe that calls for 16oz. (1lb) ground beef and get approximately the same yield you’re used to.

submitted by Alice - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi Alice, a serving of the Impossible Burger contains 9g of carbohydrates, including 3g of dietary fiber and less than 1g of sugar. We always recommend that anyone with questions about whether the Impossible Burger is appropriate for them consult with a medical professional who can take their full personal health history into account.

Q: what are the other ingredients and what does "plant based" mean?

submitted by jack - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi Jack! Some of our key ingredients are soy protein, coconut and sunflower oils, and heme, the key to meaty flavor. Plant-based means no animal-derived ingredients. You can view our ingredient list in the Label Info section of the product listing.

Where are the plants? These burgers are made from processed soy and fats. No whole plant foods. Gives me hot flashes due to the processed soy product. Never again will I eat fake meat.

Good stuff. Cooks up like ground beef but um why does it always smell a little. Gross. It's not gone off or past date it always smells wack when raw. Smells good once cooked. I haven't cooked real beef in years but I remember that also smelling yucky raw. I like it in chili and tacos and for burgers

This Full Fat version replaces the 33% less fat version!

Careful shopper - 4 months ago, Verified purchaser
This particular Impossible product is the full fat version not the 33% less fat version that was sold before, so just beware. It’s a lot of saturated fat. I use the 33% less fat version regularly in chilli, pasta sauce, even meat loaf and burgers and rely upon it. But having the question about how long it is safe to eat, it doesn’t make sense that you have to eat before the use by date if it’s frozen, then eaten within a week of thawing.

I like that the manufacturer did an amazing job making it look like beef. I couldn't stand the smell when I cooked it. My husband and I felt we couldn't eat it.

I used this product in chili and it tasted great! I could not tell a difference between this chili and the chili I usually make with beef. It is my new year's resolution to no longer support the mass producing meat industry. Finding this alternative makes my transition much easier!

The BEST plant based “beef” I’ve ever had! My husband was so against it until I made him try it! It absorbs the seasonings so well and I cook it with avocado oil so it won’t be dry and it’s amazing!!!!

I truly love this meat alternative. It has all the qualities off regular meat. It even cooks like regular ground beef with the coloring. Don’t freak out if you see red coming through the burger. It’ll cook away. I have an issue with gluten and I’m happy to see that these are gluten-free.

BEST BURGER MEAT plant based, better than real meat!

5 out of 5 stars
Thumbs up graphic, would recommend
DR TOULA - 1 year ago
Best burger meat,BETTER than real meat,IMPOSSIBLE FOODS #1 vegan products, Beyond Meat #2. I use this for us both: chili, tscos, spaghetti sauce, sloppy Joe's. I had to go plant based bc cancerous cells esophagus, stomach, small bowel pre-cancer,MAYO CLINIC. It's proven Red meat,meat/animals, deli meats are #1 carcinogens proven worldwide WHO. As a physician who loved eating meat(didn't start until my teens( too poor prior) & Italian luncheon meats caused my abnormal cells. GI cancer ran on paternal side. Hardest thing to do stop eating animal products & dairy(allergies 2 pork, dairy, eggs). My husband didn't change until his arteries were so clogged had massive blood clots,STEMI. Sometimes it takes near death to change. Lifestyle medicine is growing, whether you reduce your meat/animal products or even increase your veggies, fruits, whole grains, legumes, beans, grains,so many options now vs 13yrs ago. Meat^ dairy industry lobbyists and politicians, unnecessary funding testing, grants using animals even NIH it's all about MONEY. I was repeatedly stopped as a physician from asking for seminars or teach medical students options & benefits of plant based, DECLINED despite being major donors. MOA(MI finally has required CME in plant based nutrition, lifestyle medicine bc stop reverse most Western diet illnesses.
